Greetings,

At the age of one and half month, my son was suffering from cold and cough and took him to hospital for check-up and I was told that my newborn son has a hole in his heart which is 3 mm VSD and PFO with L – R shunt. At that time doctors told me that the hole will be closed in most of the cases and no need to worry about this. We were bit relaxed and taking him to regular health checkup. Now baby is 10 months old. As per the yesterday' s report, the hole size is same and not closed. Obviously this is a serious situation, but I don' t really understand how serious and what are the implications of all this? Now I am in panic and confused state. Is surgery needed? Please advice.

Following are the more details about my son.

Current Age: 10 months
Born Weight: 2.8 kg
Current Weight: 8.4 kg

Please help me on this like advices, care, best hospitals in Hyderabad...etc
