Hi all,
Has anyone here tried making yoghurt at home ? Am carrying (5th week)and my doc has advised me to have milk which am not able to do.I do like yoghurt but somehow i have started disliking it too.I heard homemade yoghurt tastes much better and would want to try it.I added little bit of supermarket available yoghurt to whole milk but it didn't turn out properly. Can somebody help me ? Should i keep it outside the refridgerator till it becomes curd ?

hi,
first boil the milk and after that before it cool, just lil warm then add yoghurt(500ml of milk then 2tspoon of yoghurt).after that if it is cold weather then wrap it in warm cloth otherwise leave it.untill its set dont put in fridge.

note..if u get some curd from anybody who already home making curd that will give better result rather then super market yoghurt.

take 1/2 litre of milk, boil it .take hotcase/chapaticase like commonly used in India, put in 2 tsp of dahi/yoghurt and spread it with spoon.add luke warm (cooled, boiled milk)milk and keep it aside on yr worktop in kitchen, don't disturb for 4-6 hrs.when u open it,u keep it in fridge for 2 hrs,it will be set so well ,u can cut it.go to some indian shop /halwaai to start it if other ones hv not worked for u.greek yoghurt works v well too.
best wishes,
reeta

Hi,
To make yogurt at home its best done by useing starter from home made yogurt. You can ask your friends if someone is making yogurt at home if you dont find it you can use supermarket yogurt as a starter.

1) Boil milk (preferable fat free milk) and cool it down.
2). Add 2-3 table spoon in the milk
3). Leave it in little warm temprature. For warm temprature you can use air tight container (stainless steel container) and place it inside the ovan. (dont turn on the ovan).

it will tak arround6-8 hours. once yogurt is done you can use same yogurt as starter for next time. First couple of time it wont be very good..but after wards its yummyyyyy...all the best...

We use dried milk to make yoghurt at home. This has the benefits of not requiring to be heated (fast), and you also don't risk scalding the milk. From a taste standpoint, the downside is that there is no milkfat.

If you are in a chilly part of the country, you can use your a gas oven. If the pilot light is always on (typical of older gas ovens), then it will be slightly warm all the time. Otherwise, you should be able to order a yoghurt \";machine\"; on the internet. It will keep the curd/milk mix just the right temperature. However, if you have a gas oven or a nice warm ambient temperature, this is just a waste of space.

U boil the milk and allow to cool. then pour quarter tumbler of the yogurt or buttermilk u have to that milk. dont refridgerate. u keep near the stove. u do this in the morning and by evening u will get delicious yogurt. also, u try \";Pavel's Original Russian Yogurt\"; it tastes equally good as home-made yogurt. all the best
