In medical terms it is known as Epidural. An injection is given to you on your spine, when the labour pains are at your peak. Once the injection is given, the pain goes away and you can only feel the movements. Somehow, i feel that this is not a very good method to go for, since I have a lot of back ache and also the labour time increases because of this. I am not sure if my notions are correct, but this is what i feel. For further details you could always check with your doctor.

Hi sks,
there i no such thing as 'painless' delivery.
everyone experiences some degree of pain or discomfort depending on various factors such as ur own threshold of pain
However, what could happen in some cases is a painless 'labour', the final pushing/delivery will be painful.

speaking abt my own experience i had a painless labour, i mean absolutly NO pain at all until i was ready to push the baby out! the pushing too lasted for abt 20 minutes and it was over. (no pain medication at all)
(btw i had prepared myself for some unimaginable kind of pain after all the stuff i had read, so my delivery cames as a sort of anti climax!!!)

it varies from person to person...good luck with ur baby - whichever way it happens i promise u, once ur holding ur baby it wont matter much!

I've never heard that term, but I would imagine it would be a delivery where the mother would be given drugs.
