In addition to the above you can give idli, dosa and pesarattu soaked in dhal or formula or water and crushed whole wheat fried in ghee and cooked in water adding little sugar and formula.

Hi,

My baby turned 6 months on Feb 3. Is it okay to give her the food you mentioned for 7 months old or should I wait till she turn 7 months?
I am giving her Rice Cereals, Apple sauce, (Rice and Dal mix.)

A very good suggestion all that was. Along with that you can also try fresh soups (not the readymade ones). You can make vegetable soups (pressure cook appropriate ones, grind them, add salt, pepper), dont make it too thick, for they may not be able to swallow, make it a little dilluted

Whatever you give, make sure you dont overload anything. Give proteins, carbo. everything in a balanced quantity. If you see any kind of change in their natural behaviour stop the new food immediately and get in touch with your doc

You can feed your baby rice and oats cereal with fruit puree in the morning and vegetable puree in the evening. You can mix the cereal in formula if you are breat feeding as giving little formula to babies is also good for their growth. As far as home food is concerned you can give you baby rice and dhal adding a few drops of ghee if you prefer. The rice should be very softly cooked so that it gets mashed in hand. No need to grind in mixie. Gradually you can add a little rasam if your baby gets used to the rice. You can give your baby home made ragi kanji. Ragi is high in Calcium. You can steam or pressure cook vegetables like carrots, peas, green beans, squash, sweet potato, asparagus tips, broccoli, cucumber and give it to your baby. Make sure it is tender. You can give biscuits soaked in water or formula. You can give the teething biscuits too. I would prefer water to juices. Gradually in a month or so you can start introducing chapatis soaked in dhal and mashed with fingers. Quinva is high in protein. Check out whether you can give it to your baby in any form.
