Hi Ladies & Daddies (Which i very much doubt),

My son is 2.9 yrs old .. he is susu trained since 4-5 mths now but potty is another story altogether .. Hv tried 3 kinds of potties (low, chair, ring on the seat) .. finally he seems to like the ring on the seat kind BUT he just REFUSES to pot in the seat!!

I gv him milk & take him .. make him sit & he gets up kicking & Crying as if i am beating him with a belt or something .. neighbours ask me abt it :-( .. hv tried singing songs .. telling stories .. rhymes .. even slaps 2-3 times .. witholding cartoons .. hv got a potty book frm the US .. but kuchh nahi hota .. he will do potty in his undies .. he goes & hides behinds curtains or sofas & pots or will just do watching TV .. of course he says AFTER doing it .. mamma potty aaya :(

WHAT WHAT WHAT did u all do? PLEASE share some experiences & raise my hopes .. i dont know what i am doing wrong as all my frnds now look at me as if to say what a mother abhi tak son ko potty train nahi kar paayi hai ..

my daughter is also 2.10yrs old. she doesnt even tell susu. i have tried everything mentioned in books etc but no help. i tried scolding and slapping her but she doesnt want to listen. moreover she is kinda ziddi girl. the more i try to teach her, more she resisits. i have lst all hopes. waiting for some miracle to happen :) Shwetha replied. Nidhi dont worry. My son is 2.2 yrs old. I used to worry about it and nag him all the time scold him too. But 1 day I just got tired and accepted that he will not go to the university in diapers so sooner or later he will be potty trained. Immediately the next day he started telling. It was music to my ears. He is now free of diapers though he still sometimes have accidents but I dont scold him for that remember u dont attract bees with vinegar but with honey. Simran replied. My son is 2 years and one month, he has the same problem, tells abt. susu but does potty in undies, me too hv been trying for some time now but must tell you for the last one or two times he did it on the pot seat but i had to understand when he was applying pressure i put him on the pot, let him play with water which is his favourite pasttime and bingo he did it! I guess one has to have lot of patience with these kids and keep trying, they all are different, so dont compare with others who trained early.

dont blame urself..nobody is goin to blame u ...is he goin to school??? mine was the same case ...my daughter is 34 mths now n she also learned to pass motion in potty around 28 mths. i was also embrass like u but as soon as i sent her to playschool lookin to others kids she started using potty as others kids do...kids imitates alot..so try showin him how other kids using it..n praise him when he sits on it...tell him its dirty doin it in undies..kids shows they dont understand anything but they understands everything..make faces its too dirty say chi chi hai

best options is showin him that potty shud be done there only...dont slap him its not goin to help at all..

all the best Saheli replied. I m not aware too much about potty training issues and its proffessional answers. But I have a suggestion see if it works.

Hide all your potties and stop training him for next some days. The idea is to let him forget his bad experience/impression about that entire process. For all these days, let him do potty in undies and when he tells, treat him with extra love and clean. This is to develop trust in mom that she is not a bad potty trainer anymore.

Simultaneously, do things so that kid will pass motion. That is, increase fibre and liquid content in food, reqd water content. Every morning after brush, give him some lukewarm water mixed with honey. Then warm milk after a while. You can also add honey to warm milk. Foods like daliya, green leafy veg, fibrous fruits will give him a good motion next day. Check with doc if u need to gv him iron or any tonic for bowels. (now dont overdo and give him loose motions!)

Then gradually train him for potty time, say in morning. Like i said, lukewarm water in morning can help.

Thus, by now he has forgotten bad experiences and has got good bowel motions.

Now get back to potty training slowly. If u can do this, take him to rest room with u, sit on loo (pretend u r doing it) and tell him stories and laugh. This is to teach the kid that u also do the same and that its not as bad as he thinks. Let him know dad also does same, and every body else too. Show him other kids when they do it.

Dont make the kid sit on potty when u r doing all this.

Once u think he has got positive impresion abt the process, now u can get back to the way u were training, with stories songs etc. p replied. hey nidhi am a mom of two daug aged 4 & 2.3 elder one is trained but younger one is not she is a pain i take her to the potty every one or 2 hrs she does but she does not tell me if i dont take her of forget to so i dont understand wht to do i used the sme techniques for my elder but with this one nothin seeems to be workin probably they wil learn a liitle later just be patient i guess!!wher u fr?? working ??mess me bye! Even I have the exact same problem with my daughter (same age as of your kid). not sure what to do?
