Working Mother:Parenting tips

Please give me some suggestion,
To start with …My husband, my 8yrs old kid and me we stay in UK. My husband and me have completed our education in India. When my son was 2yrs old we shifted to UK and since then living here and both work. My son is in 3rd std and I must say the though what he studies is same as normal Indian child studies but the way of teaching and worldly knowledge he gets is quite different from India. So me and husband are generally fascinated about the things he tells us. This is not the problem....but the problem is he has started questioning our knowledge. For example last night : he was telling me about microorganisms he learnt in school and then said can he have a microscope for his birthday. And I said yes he can and generally told him that few months back I had asked him in a toy shop if he wants a microscope and he had said no. On that he asked me do I know what a microscope is ? and I calmly told him yes I know what it is. And he said he is not talking about telescope but talking about microscope. I told him I know what he is talking about since im a science graduate. He started to question my knowledge that if I know then tell him what it does and how it looks? Oh god….i was god damn mad at him. This is just one incident I telling
Please give some parenting tips over here…did I go wrong somewhere by praising him on everything he learns in school or what else I could I have done in situation like this or is it just my ego hurt which im sure it has.
Generally like these things happen when kids have grown up as adult and parents are retired staying at home. I didn’t know I had I have to face this situation so early in my life. Or is it in package of staying aboard.
I’m so confused on my parenting skills
