Nephrotic Syndrome - Health Issues Discussion Forum - Parents of Preschoolers Message Boards

Hi,

I am a mother of 3 year old. Recently we found out that he is sufferring from Nephrotic Syndrome. We have consulted many pedeatrics, nephrologists and child nephrologists. They are all of the same opinion. The symptoms of this disease were swollen eyes... many kids get this along with swollen legs and belly. This disease is basically of kidney not functioning properly and protien is excreated out of the body in urine. We have started his treatment as per doctor's prescription.

Has anyone ever heard of this disease before?? Doctor says that this is common disease and happens generally to boys of the 2 to 8 yrs. Please let me know if any one has ever heard of this disease before.

i would like to know if anyone has tried homeopathy that worked. another board indicated 2 successful cases from India but no more details.

i am a mom of 3yrs 10month old.recently on 1st feb i found my daughter is suffering from nefrotic syndrome.we also consulted many doctors & they say it happens to child in the small age ,it is cureable.she had swelling on 2nd of feb,but after 4 days the swelling had gone & till date there is no swelling.she is other wise very active & doesnt want to rest as the doctors have restricted her going to school.so she keeps on running here & there.i am giving her high protien diet ,salt restricted & fruits + good quantity of water.though protien is still leaking from her urine but the doc has not started the medicine,he says i will see for few more days.should we show to homeopathic doctor also as in alopatic the medicine is only steriods& has to be given for 3 months.i am really worried.please give ur valuable advice& in how many days ur son become perfectly ok(going to school +normal diet.)

Dont worry!

Hello Monica, my name is Vianka and I was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome at the age of 20,it was very hard I had my cholesterol at 460 blood inj the urine, and alot of protein as well. I also gained 45 pounds of water I was treadted for one year with a lot of medicines like cellcept,furosemide,prednisone,amlodopine. the treatment goal was to supress my amune system so it wouldnt harm my kidneys. I also had a biopsy which was very painful. But thank´ s to God all of this night mare is passed I am 100% cured and i dont have any swelling or pain. Nefrotic syndrome

Dear Monica,

I have a 3-year old nephew. Half year ago he was always tired, had swollowed eyes, legs and belly. After good check of his health the doctors said he had nefrotic syndrome. He has to take steriods and low-salt diet. He is feeling much much better, is more active and looks much better. I would advice you to ask doctors to start medicine because when you delay it, the kidney will suffer and damage. But when you give propriete medicine, it is curable. Please dont be afraid of the medicine. It is strong medicine (steriods) but if your son cures it is worth it. Please trust the normal healtcare and don't go into homepathic doctors. I live in Holland, and they do high level research on this kind of decease. When the child is young, it is curable with medicie, but when it will not be treated, the kidney might not recover at all.
Please dont be scared Monica for the medicine...the three months will pass and your son will feel much much better. My nephew is a lot better then he was half year ago.
