Hi Manda...
I have a 12 month old girl..and i think kids should be ready for the potty by 15-18 months...but since it is traumatic if tried all of a sudden..i have bought a new potty and we play with it and just use it as a stool to sit on...i hope this helps baby become familiar with the potty...and hastens the transition from diaper to potty...all the best...Deepti's mom

Whatever you do, Do not force the child. It is going to make the matter worse. Try to talk a lot and if she is screaming then she is not ready yet. Try to make her sit with her clothes on (ofcourse with the diaper on). May be she doesn't like the cold feeling and after you do this for a while, try to see if she is ready for the next step. I have a 14 month old daughter and I haven't started potty training yet. Just go with your instincts and make sure that she is ready for it first.
