Hi j'shri,

It is always wise to make compromises in life and make inlaws as happy as you can. But any decision that is a lifetime decision and will haunt u for ever should be taken by you . There is no point in naming her what ur in-laws want and then sulking over it for the entire life. The two name s together are too long abd it's a funny idea to club them together just beacuse u like one half and ur in-laws the other..

Make your own decision and name ur daughter what u like and tell you mil-fil..'I am really sorry but I am naming her Anika..basss' and close the issue. They will fell offended for sometime but not for long and the issue will die down.

Once again I FEEL u should name her what u like..everyone in the family dosn't have to have the name staring with 's' and ur daughter's name dosn't have to be similar to urs..so without creating a fuss have the name of ur choice written on the birth certificate and that's it..

take care and all the best

Hi J'sri,

Shriya was the first name we thought about when we came to know that our baby was a girl. Since there was a Shriya already in our family, we had to give up. I guess, the name is now very common. Anika is definitely unique, but personally I prefer two Ns in the name like Annika.

Like everyone else, I feel both names together is too long. To make it short, how about Anika Sri. It does rhyme with your name as well.

We still haven't decided on a name yet, and have gone through several fights about this. I never imagined deciding a name would be this difficult.

Sorry, I am not of much help. Hope you all come up with a name, who knows even a better one.

Good luck,
Vindhya

Hi Jsri,

Anika sounds more unique, though Shriya is also a nice name but i like ANIKA better then Shriya.Plus if u feel like calling her from short name then if its ANIKA u can atleast call ANI but if its SHRIYA it will be SHRI which sounds more of a boy name.
But if u combine both that becomes tooo long.
ALL THE BEST in finalising the name,

Take care,
Uma

Hi Jsri,

I like Shriya than Anika. But both combined doesn't sound good. Hey... this is just my personal opinion. So, don't take it to heart. Because you say Shriya as old name, try to see for some other names. You might find different name which you both like. I know name search is a hard job, but try if you can find a name which you all like. Good luck dear.

Anu.

Hi j'shri
first pref. is anika...
if hubby doesn't like it then second pref is shriya..both together just too big..
Since this is a joint decision, u both should be satisfied.
If not, go thru ur shortlisted name list and choose something u both like.
Both me and my husband had to give in to each other for both our favourite names, very difficult to but its first decision u make for ur baby. Others in family we just told them to choose which they prefer among the two names shortlisted.
HOpe u finally reach an agreement. All the best..Take care.
Radhika
