I' ll be travelling to U.S with my son.its a 22 hrs. flight. pls. help me in advising how to prevent air pressure in flight for my 17 mths. old son.what are the other things things to be taken care of like Food,medicines etc.

Thnks in adv. 4 ur help. Mel replied. Just make sure that your son is drinking something during take off and landing. As long as they are sucking and swallowing during take off and landing, their ears won' t pop. In flight, you can give him something to drink every few hours (water preferably). Apart from that he should be fine. I took some basic first aid items in my hand baggage - 1 small bottle neosporin powder for any cuts or abrasions and 3 - 4 band aids. In case your son develops a cold close to the scheduled day of travel, make sure you take him to a doc to get it treated immediately. Travelling with a cold can be painful for children (cabin pressure adds to clogged ear and nose passages).
I took some soft toys and soft books to keep him busy in-flight (in case he throws it at some other passenger, soft items will create less embarrassment). Dress him very comfortably, but carry a wrap / shawl in case he feels cold. Airlines provide baby food and nappies, but I prefer to carry my own. A 10 pack of nappies should cover the longest of flights. Change him just before take off, and just prior to landing. My son didn' t eat much food, just had some of his bottle and a little fruit. But, carry a few options - a few jars of sealed baby food, a fruit which can be peeled and fed (orange / banana), a few packets of fruit juice, some dry snacks (biscuits / crackers).
Have your meals in turns in-flight. The sky nanny was useless when we travelled.
