hi all,
my daughter is now 6 months old.from the time she turned 2 months, she has developed this severe red acne & rashes all over her face.doctor said its eczema.its highly itchy & she keeps scratching her face all the time.my poor baby is suffering so much due to this.from the time she is 2 months old, i haven' t seen her clear face at all.i only get to see that red acne & rashes all the time.doctor advised me to apply vaseline & also prescribed the steroid cream.vaseline didn' t help at all.when i apply steroid cream, the acne goes away , but again comes back once i stop applying it.i' m also scared to use so much steroid cream on such a small baby.
i dont know what to do?how to cure this?
plz help.what can i do to cure this.any advice, tips is highly appreciated.
thanks

Hello,

Even my son had the problem of eczema from 2 months. I also used to miss the baby soft skin very much. Initially it was really bad, he had rashes on his face, tummy, back of the legs and hands. Sometimes water used to ooze from them. His weight gain initially was good but later on it was on the lower side. We were also applying steriod cream initially and had even shown him to a dermatologist. But the rashes used to come and go regularly. Then when he was around 6 months I read up on lot of sites that homeopathy may be helpful in treating eczema. We consulted a homeopathic doctor finally. He has been undergoing treatment since last 3 months, the rashes are still there although they are not so bad. In fact there are no rashes on tummy and hands (touchwood). But the doctor has said that the treatment will be needed for 6months to 1 year. We have decided to continue with the treatment although I would have preferred a quicker treatment but I don' t want to give him steriods anymore. The duration of treatment may be less for your child. Please keep few things in mind- initially the rashes will flare up and they will reduce gradually. So you will have to be really strong mentally so that you don' t stop the treatment. Also doctor will prescribe an anti-allergen which you can give if the baby has lot of itching. Another thing is that ensure that you bathe your baby in water to which neem leaves have been added. This is to ensure that our little angels don' t catch any infection due to the open skin in rashes. Initially I was not able to kiss my baby on his cheeks because of the rashes but now I can kiss him. :-) Hope this is useful for your baby.

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.

In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
