Dear archie,
B'cas of my irregular periods i was put on metformin 1500mg daily.Hoping to be pregnant i took blood tests on Mar24(last period was on feb12 induced by aygestin)which turned to be negative and was said my progesterone was low.What do progeterone level mean?.Does it
show that i've ovulated or not?.I'm right now in dilemma whether to continue metformin alone or to go in the direction of metformin+clomid.Please do help me.Please mail ur suggestions.Please ,PLEASE do reply me.

Were you identified with PCOS or just irregular period. Girls with PCOS are known to get success with Metformin or combination of Metformin+Clomid.

Progesterone is an hormone that's in luteal phase and also a pregnancy hormone. In Luteal phase it has it's slightly elevated levels than basal while if it is pregnancy then the levels are expected to increase. If the levels are above basal may suggest you have surpassed ovulation and indeed in luteal phase or if they are still low may indicate still in follicular phase (not yet ovulated).

It's common that some time you will skip cycle or have a period without ovulation. Have an ultrasound done if possible.

stay with your Gynec's suggestion on alone Metformin or combination.
