Diet and Exercise:Diet restriction

Hi frnz, I am new to this community. I have a baby who is 4 weeks old. Wanted to know if you people also had been to restriction on diet. Though doctors insist on eating everything, elders at home have a traditional way of looking after new mothers. They put restriction on diet where u r supposed to eat things like kanji ( ganji). rice, dal, idli only..How sic! I feel i was trreated like a patient..Have any of u gone thru this experience... what is ur opinion?
Regards

Hi Deepa,
I have a 4 month old baby boy now. Even I had the diet restrictions you are speaking of. My brother who is a doctor was against it, but my mom was adamant. And personally speaking, I feel it helped.
Whatever you eat goes to your baby. Since his digestive system is not working properly, he might have problems with some items.
I have seen personally, that whenever I used to eat things like too much of curd, potatoes or brinjal, the same night, he used to have gas in his tiny tummy.
I really dont know if it was a sheer coincidence or diet really affects. But I feel, that you should undergo these restrictions.
But yeah, you should make sure to eat veggies and fruits, so that the baby gets used to different tastes.
Some say, that babies like the taste of garlic. Thats why you should have more garlic, so that they feed properly.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have a 2 months old baby and as per doctor´ s advice... I ate everything I liked but the homemade food only.

Though my mom had some objections to it...I had consumed juices, curd, fruits, roti etc. neither I faced any problem till now nor my baby. Doctor says baby´ s growth is very good.

Keep taking calcium n iron tablets as prescribed by your doctor... u will have no problem... GOB BLESS U
