My pediatrician told me to give my 11 month old breakfast lunch and dinner and milk inbetween. he can eat solids only one a day and then he is not hungry at all and will have only 20ounces of formula. He was growing well on his growth curve but now he is below 5 percentile in his weight. My pd says nothing is wrong with him because he is achieving all his milestone on time like he has started to walk now. Does anyone has some opinions or suggestions to how canI increase his diet.

Hi Jyoti...I have a 10 month old girl baby...who is way ahead in her milestones...but weight gain is below 5 percentile..though height and HC is ok..on my Pd's advice...i have tapered off her intake of commercial cereal and included more home foods..like mashed moong dal rice..ragi slurry cooked with lil ghee and sugar(known to increase wt)oats cooked in whole milk...mashed potatoes,carrots etc,pureed fruits like hill banana,stewed apple,papaya,soaked and grated almonds,dates..full cream yoghurt,idlis,whole wheat bread with a lil cheese spread/butter this wide repetoire helped improve her interest in food.Though try introducing them gradually.Also if baby is very active or was breastfed weight gain is slow.Good luck...do keep in touch..Meera Angali replied. My baby is also 11 month old and he is also poor eater.He is also not good sleeper.My baby drinks not more than 10 ounce milk/day. He is also bet. 5-25 percentile.Iam worried but don't understand what should I do. How do you give milk to your baby .In cup or bottle? Any idea when can we start whole milk? Also are you giving oil and ghee in vegetables or dals?
