Name: singh I was just going thru this mssg board & thought of giving a tip that helped me to conceive after 4 yrs. of trying. I have had a history of very irregular cycles which was because of PCOS, diagnosed by my Dr. Because of polycystic ovaries, the body fail to ovulate or ovulate very irregularly. After trying everything, several unsuccessful cycles of clomid & then clomid+IUI for more than 3.5 yrs, I was referred to an infertility specialist by my gynaec. I even went to the specialist & came to know that I would have be on the injectibles followed by IUI. I got kind of anxious & thought of trying accupuncture before going thru those invasive expensive treatments. To my surprise, I got pregnant in the 3rd month itself though I didn't know about it until I was already 12 weeks pregnant(b'coz of my irregular cycles). I think accupuncture helps u relax a lot, increases the blood circulation to the reproductive system & the herbs & dietary supplements they give, improves the hormonal imbalances. I had to take a hell lot of herbs & supplements & it was all worth it! Now I'm 25 weeks pregnant & due in july. Believe me guys, it's worth giving a try! Just make sure, whichever accupuncturist u choose, is a licensed one. Sometimes ur insurance also cover it to a limit if ur accupuncturist is flexible & doesn't mention \";infertility intreatment\"; for the bills. I also took \";fertility blend\";(an herb) for 2 months before going to the accupuncturist, probably that helped too!
If even a single person is benefitted by this post of mine, it'd make me feel nice.

how long does it take to conceive?
(i mean after going to acupuncturist)
even i have PCOS we have been trying since 4 yrs. tried all IUI, IVF, Metaformin, clomid, injectables, sick and tired of all these processes.
whatever u said its really interesting.
it is really helpful

Hello sri,
Thanx for all ur wishes!
Well! acupuncture is a very relaxing treatment. They put very thin needles at the specific points in ur body like ears, legs, forehead,abdomen, etc. depending upon ur specific needs to regulate the hormones & activate some energy points & leave it for about 30-45 mins. It's painless, u just feel it like an ant-bite, when the needle is pricked, sometimes not even that. U shouldn't move ur body parts after that, b'coz that might cause pain. The only discomfort is that, sometimes ur leg or ur hand mind get numb. They leave u on the bed, put on a light music ask u to to try to sleep. Don't be amazed if u really doze-off...it's that much relaxing. Just keep a clear mind.
Don't forget to mention about the homeopathic medicine u r taking to ur acupuncturist.

thanks for ur concern and ur reply, i am in US EAST COAST.ACTUALLY i took metaformin when i went for IVF (ie 2 yrs ago)at that time i got severe OHSS i was hospitalized for 4 days, so my embryos got frozen, after that i tried for frozen enbryo transfer cycles, but it didn't work out for me
so after that i stopped all the medications, i just only took metaformin 1000 mg twice a day, ie last yr, but i did n't respond well with that medication, so my doc increased it to 1500 mg but i couldn't able to resist with that medication dose, so i took only 1000mg for 6 months, then i have stopped the medication, finally now i am tring homeopathy since last 6 months.
thats all my story.
once i get regular cycles then i am thinking to go for furthur treatments
now i am responding little bit with homeo medicines after 6 months
it works slowly
anyways i am finding acupuncturist here how will be the treatment, they will put all the needles on the body?
i am just curious about the treatment
it will be helpful if u tell about the treatment.

Well! when I started going to the acupuncturist, she said it'll take about 3-4 months for my body to get toned & my cycles to be regulated. But, when my periods did not show up for about 3 months, i started getting anxious('coz metformin had regularized my cycles quite a bit, about 35-55 days) & so, I went to my gynae for progesterone tablets. Though, I continued the acupuncture treatment & took the progesterone. On the 3rd day of starting my progesterone, I noticed the egg-white like cervical mucus, which I had never noticed in my life-time. I told this to my acupuncturist, she said, it was a very good sign & asked me to try for the next 2-3 days, that's what I did. And, then I went to India for 5 weeks, still my periods had not shown up, even after taking those progesterone tablets, but still I didn't suspect that I might be pregnant. So, went to the lab for the test(was tired of -ve HPT's), so that after a -ve, I can make an apptt. with the specialist. But to my surprise, next day when I called to know about my test, it came out to be +ve.Me & DH could not believe it until we saw the U/S & my dr. told me I was already 12 weeks thru. So, that confirmed, i conceived the day, i saw that cervical mucus. This is my story. I shared this with u 'coz ur history looks quite similar to mine. Take my advice, first try "fertility blend" for 3 months. U can find it at GNC stores(U r in USA right?). If that doesn't work, find a good acupuncturist & try for atleast 6 months. My acupuncturist's aim was of 6-12 months for me. But I think, sometimes even luck matters.
Even she was surprised to hear the news.
I continue to see her once a month so that my pregnancy continues normally.
Are u still on metformin? What's the dose? I'm & was on 1000mg twice.
I also followed my acupuncturist's advice of cutting down on carbohydrates, increasing protein in my diet & cutting off sugar to almost nil.
If u have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Don't worry, it'll happen for u too! My sis too has pcos, she also conceived after 3 yrs. of trying, though she was lucky enough to conceive on her 1st dose of clomid. So, there's time for everyone & it'd come for u too....

Dear Singh,
Thanks for ur prompt reply.I am also from USA and i am i chicago right now. I get married in 1997 and my husband came back to USA after marriage (HE IS USA CITIZEN) and after one year I conceive and have passed almost 12 weeks but in that time I always feel pain in abdominal and my pregnancy change in to miscarriage its happened in 1998 and I had DNC my dr. told me not to try for another six months
And at the same time I started work in the factory and I did not took any rest after my DNC but since after my first miscarriage I am keep trying for a baby two time I had IVF one time IUI and first few months my dr. put me on clomid 50 and 100 mg and in 2001 I went to INDIA and one dr. write me fertomid-100 and since then I am on that and I am taking every month and its easy to find and get from INDIA but now it’s 2005 started but so far results are negative.Please advice.

Sorry for ur sad story!
Well! I'm no medical expert but ur problem looks like an unexplained infertility. Has ur gynae told u about the problem ur body is having in conceiving?
All I can say is, try finding a good acupuncturist & try acupuncture for few months & see if that works for u. It did for me when i was feeling very dejected & helpless.
And I know for sure, u'll have ur little bundle of joy in ur arms one day. It can be delayed by God but He never denies....

Thanks for sharing ur experience with us. First of all I want to know where are u from ?Are u from USA if yes let me know how and where I can find the acupuncture treatment clinic and how I can find out from my insurance what kind of acupuncture treatment they are covering . Please reply ASAP.
