Hi all,
I am 27 years old and married before 2 years. my husband expired just 20 days back, i am 31/2 months pregnate. i want to give birth this child but everybody who's close to me told me to abort the child. I have a love marriag so my affection to my beloved is to much. this is my first pernency. i have no any support to my in-laws, but my sister & brothers are too close to me.

I can't decide what to do. please help. m replied. hi,
first of all i m so sorry about ur husband. but see, wat is the fault of that unborn baby??? its ur husband's gift to u. i know in today's life its very difficult to live alone. but there r so many nice people who vl accept u as well as ur baby too. i hv my frnd an eg. for u. same thing happed to her also but today she is living happily wd her new family along wd her first husband's baby. so please dont go for abortion. i hope u vl think . hai meenakshi replied. hi friend

FRIEND s replied. We pride ourselves to be cultured people with high moral values, and also the land of ahimsa, but reality tells a different story, as in your case.

In my opinion, Indians are calculating, cold blooded and unemotional creatures. No wonder female foeticide is rampant in some states as to alter the demography significantly. While in the US there is a healthy debate on the rights of an unborn child, for most of us, it is a non-issue.

Your loved ones look at your best chances of getting remarried, which could be seriously jeopardised if you carry the child to term. In India, human emotions (esp. of a woman) are not supposed to matter. Look at how everyone extols the virtues of a joint family still - even though in most situations, the bride has to put up with an overbearing m-i-l who would have no regard for the former's personal space.

So the choice for you is - 1. play along with the rules of a mean and thoughtless society which will heighten the chances of you getting \";married off\"; again at the expense of you living in guilt the rest of your life of stopping the heartbeat of the innocent life that your late hubby whom you loved gave you as a gift, or 2. be a bold and responsible woman and bring the child into the world and stand up and not get cowered by society's moral wretchedness.

I am a man, but if I were a woman in your place, I would clearly choose 2.
