Working Mother:Finally i cud balance my career and my kid too

Dear all

I really thank all those who advised me on my various worries .
Earlier when i was in corporate job I used to feel guilty and many times I used to find that I am unable to balance my career and kid .Trust me it was a difficult choice for me but I could make a decision to quit the corporate career for a while and join academic wing. Now I am Professor and it has given me imense joy of learning and unlearning so many things .It just proved right for me as I could spend quality time with my son and still could read and enjoy so many books .

I wish that all my working superwomen friends.
should get same feeling of balanced career

Regards
Shilpa

Hi,

Presently I am working in a MNC as a financial analyst. Even I want to shift my career to academics so that I have ample time with my daughter. How to go about it, I have done my BBM in finance and pursuing my MBA currently through distance learning. Please help as I really want to be with my kid by the time she joins school and leave this corporate job.....

Priti,

I have a job which requires me to work fulltime. I cannot think of quitting my career coz its who I am. The satisfaction I get from work is equally important to me as being a mother. I completely agree that noone looks after a child better than his or her mom but whats the point in a child having an unhappy mother. I agree that some compromises have to made but remember that when ur child turns 10 and doesnt need you so much anymore, it would be too late for me to start my career afresh. Its all about the Balancing act. If you are a happy mom you will be a better mom.

no ones a superwoman ... some women are plain lucky (maybe u r one of them) or need the money to manage corporate job & kid.

kids want family not servants. quality time is important but its not easy with a corporate job.

i have quit to be with my kid.... taking up a part time job.

priorities change for a mother, more than anyone.
