I POSTED THIS UNDER WRONG SUBJECT AREA BEFORE
Hi there,

Iam a mother of 6 1/2 month old baby girl. She was sick 4 weeks back with cold and ear infection, at that time she din't take any formula. So we started giving only solids in the morningand she would take formula at night.she is waking up 2 times in the night. When we went to the doctor's 2 weeks back she suggested that the baby needs atleast 3 formula feedings in the morning.since she is not getting that in the morning she is waking up at night.so I started changing her schedule....
5-5.30am Drinks 5 OZ of formula
8-8.30am Eates gerber viggie stage1 bottle
9-9.30am Takes a nap
Plays for a while
10.30-11.00am Drinks 5 OZ of formula
Takes 30 min nap.
12.30-1.00pm Eates rice cereal with bananas
Playing time
2.30-3.00pm Drinks 4 OZ of formula
Sleeps for 1 1/2 to 2 Hours.
4.30-5.00pm Eates Gerber Fruit
Massage and bath.
6-6.15pm Drinks 4 OZ of formula
Takes a Quick Nap.
7.30-8.00 Eates Oatmeal cereal
And we will try to keep her awake until 9-9.30pm.
She goes to sleep at that time,Iam trying to feed her 8 OZ of formula from 10-11pm so that she will sleep until 5-5.30am.Here comes my problem, she is not drinking all of it and it takes 2 hours to complete everything and sometimes she won't even complete it.She tries to go away from the bottle and even cries if i force her.As iam full time mom i will be so tired by this time and getting angry...which I don't like.
I was thinking instead of buggging her at that time wait until she wakes up for it, like around 12-12.30am.Is this the right solution???? Please give me some suggestions. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for you advice anin. At first that's what I thought.she will be cranky if I don't feed her enough.I started solids in her 4 month and gradually increased the quantity.she is doing fine with her bowl movements also. But I will keep your suggestion in mind.
Thank You

Subject:  baby's eating schedule

hi
My babay will be 6 months old on 19th july. She has gerber only 3 times a day.Rest of the time she is nursing.I breast feed her.Are u sure u should be feeding your babay so much? I think since the baby is unable to digest the food she is cranky in the night.Try to make it a little light meal in the night and she should be fine.

Subject:  8 oz might be too much for her

Hi, looks like your baby is eating solids well and also drinking a good amount of formula.
18-24 ounces of formula is good enough for babies 6 months and above as long as they are eating solids well.
and about giving her 8 ounces at once.. she might not be able to drink so much..
my baby who is 8 months old doesn't drink as much...

So I would suggest either give her 5-6 ounces at 11pm and then food again at around 4 or so if she wakes up..or like you said, wait till 12pm and try the 8 ounces...

I am assuming you baby sleeps through the night ie. wakes up, has her food and goes back to sleep...

but overall, I think she is doing well with her solids and milk...

Good luck

Hi puja,

Thanks for your reply. You are right she does good with solids better than formula feeding.I started trrying 8oz after my doctor suggested me to do so,because she was waking up two times in the middle of the night for food. And my doctor doesn't want me to feed her in the middle of the night.

She drinks 5-6 ounces at a time and takes half an hour break and drinks the rest(around 10pm).she is waking up at 3.30 drinks milk and goes back to sleep. This was happening after i posted the query here.I just stopped her from taking the 6pm nap, instead she plays at that time. I think that's what made the difference.I was tensed because my doctor keeps on insisting me not to feed her in the night/sleep.But this girl she wouldn't sleep until I feed her.....Does your baby sleep through the night?

Thanks a lot for your time.
Swapna.
