Feeding:Not eaten for a whole week!!

My 12 month old has not eaten ANYTHING for a whole week now. He had some cold a week ago, his nose is still kind of congested, but he's not as uncomfortable / runny nosey as he was. Its not just that he's eating less, he hasn't taken ANY solid or milk...he just pushes away the food. I also breastfeed him, he's okay with breast milk, but even that he doesnt nurse for very long...just 2-3 mins...and besides he cant breathe when he's sucking, so he can't nurse properly either....please help...I'm VERY worried....as it is he weighed 14.4 lb at 11 months! :(

But otherwise he's very active and playing all day. Any advise will help/ Thanks.

Hey Gauri,

Do not panic! try these all. may be because of cold he is not eating, if that's not the case, may be teething. did he get any tooth yet? for cold try all these remedies.

1. Use humidifier whenver he falls asleep.
2. Secondly, use PEDIA CARE oral drops for cold relief with doctor's advice . it really worked well for my baby.
3. if his nose is congested clear his nose by placing nostril drops and after ten minutes, take out the mucus by bulb.
u can get these all over the counter. I mean pediacare drops, nostril solution, and the bulb.
4. Last not the least is try to give him more water. make him drink lots of water, if he won't take ,try giving it with spoon by placing him on ur legs. hope this helps.

Hi, I read your problem the situation is like that but please don't panic. I think because of the cold he is still uncomfortable which is preventing him from taking food. Please consult your Ped. immediately. My Son is 4 months old and he had it last month, I have a Nanny who sucked his phelm (bulgam), Since the babies are unable to bring it out on their own, she put him on a table brought her lips to his lips, pressed his nose and suked him from the mouth, the bulgam came in her mouth. That way she cleaned my Son for 3 continous days and the poor boy was ok.

Please keep on trying again and again for the food and milk, do not give up. After every 15-20 minutes try him again. I will advise ask your Dr. immediately......Take care.....Neetu
