Due Date Club December 2005:Urine infection...cause of worry?

Hi,

I got my urine routine test in the 35th week and it shows 35-40 pus cells (WBC) against a normal range of 0-5. Also protein (albumin) shows present trace. Doctor has advised me a urine routine and culture test (midstream) as it seems i have got some urine infection. Can anyone guide what kind of infection this is ? and what r the problems that it can create?

I will be doing the test tomorrow but the reports will come in after 2 days. Im impatient to wait and im worried what could happen.

Thanks!
Rids

Your doc asked u for a cu;lture to figure out what kind of infection before prscribing appropriate antibiotic.
As for ur query abt. VBAC-its Vaginal Birth after Caesarean...my first one was a C-Section and so this applies to me if I try for normal this time.
Urs is first one..right ??...so u don't have to fret over this one!
Take care-hope u feel better soon..just a tip on preventing further infection...have ur husband use a condom during sex...sounds weird but important to prevent infections!

I have the same problem of urine infection which was detected last week so my doctor gave me antibiotics, Urine infection is very common during the pregnancy and if its cure at earlier stage you don't have to worry. The only problem it causes is earlier contraction which I had every 4 mintues due to urine infection. But now after taking the pill twice a day everything is fine. So don't stress out too much. Ask your doctor to put you on antibiotics, Also FYI:- as per my doctor any antibiotics prior to 37 weeks is safe after that doctors advice not to take any pills besides your prenatal vitamins. Hope this helps.

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
