Hi Patlivated and Sandhya

First of all I must really thank both of u for ur inspiring messages about weight loss.
I would also love to join ur group.Heres my condition

I delivered a baby boy 4 weeks back through c-section. I 5' 5 and used weigh 60 kgs bfore pregnancy. But bow Im 80 and desperately want to reduce.I have few doubts and you both being super moms it would be very nice if you could answer them

1) Since I had a c-section,how sooner can I start excercising?

2) Does the abdomen belt help in reducing the tummy?

3) Since Im breast feeding is it ok to follow the \" Lisa miracle diet\" for weight loss?

It would be great if I could get some valuable advice from everyone who had gone thru
this c-section and had come out of it successfully. Please help

keerti, like patlivated mentioned i' am glad that you are already thinking about weight loss after your delivery. But, at this point like patlivated mentioned, you need to concentrate on your baby more than you. Which means you eat lots of healthy food(veggies, milk, healthy complex carbohydrates) and concentrate on breast feeding that baby of yours for as long as you can. Breastfeeding itself reduces a lot of weight for lot of women. Wearing a abdomen belt does help in keeping your muscles intact in your abdomen but doesn' t necessarily reduce your tummy.

With a c-section you need atleast 8 weeks to recover which i' am sure your ob-gyn must have told you. Don' t try to become a super woman in this time and try to diet or do any vigorous exercise.
if you attempt any of the above mentioned, you' ll probably do more harm than good to yourself and your baby. So, always remember that. You need lots of rest and nutrition at this point. Eat healthy and like patlivated mentioned after couple of months, start doing light workouts...like try walking a mile...keep increasing as you feel it becoming easier. When you think you can walk couple of miles without huffing or puffing, then that is a good indication that you are now ready to hit the gym. Let us know at this time and we' ll all work together to make you reach your goal. Good luck and take care of that baby. Bye.

Patlivated! Nice tag you have given me sandya!
Keerthi, I am impressed to see you ' patlivated' at 4 weeks of delivery. When i was there, I dint even think abt it! Good going.

But i wd suggest you to take rest and look after your baby right now. Dont worry about wt, come back to this board after 3-4 m and i will patlivate you.

I dont know how after much time one can start work out for a c-section as mine was a normal delivery. You should check with ur gynae.

keep feeding the baby, and a full time feeder mom loses wt gradually. Eat green veggies fruits and hv a good diet, dont indulge too much in ghee and fats (this was one mistake i made and put on more wt after delivery).

I wont suggest going on any lisa diet as of now. The baby needs u, pls maintain a good diet, rest and take care of the baby.

I did use the abdomen belt for both my deliveries and it has helped me. Dont know abt c-section, pls check with your doc.

sandya my update-
I am now standing at 77.5 kgs. But my body fat has not reduced much so the gym incharge has changed my workout schedule and introduced more strengths. He also said that since i have less muscle mass and more body fat, it was the reason i have less stamina and cant work on cycle/crosstrainer at higher levels.
my BMR has also reduced by 10-20 and BMI has come to 25 from 29.

Sandya, after reading that you keep nuts in your office drawer i too tried to follow it and kept a small pack of cashews. Result? I consumed the whole pack in a day! lol! No control i have, too bad. My eating habits have also worsened in last few days, looking at losing wt, which too i think i am doing wrong. Well, thats the update for now.

will get back with more updated later.

ok dear
i take ur word
i hv also read that pistachios are good for lowering bad cholestrol.

I hv started carrying 4-5 nuts (each type) to office, this way I am limiting my intake.

How i wish I had the control on my mind!

Dear Patlivated...i laughed so hard after reading about your nuts disaster...really..you are very cuuuuute. But sweetheart, cashews are the worst of all nuts to chew as a snack. Try switching to Walnuts, almonds, raisins, dried prunes(lots of fiber) and see if you could eat a little less and survive. Almonds take a long time to chew on, walnuts very good for you heart although slightly sour in taste. So, keep up the good work and let me know if you need anything.
