Eating Problems:off topic: tiny hair all over-plz help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
My daughter is three and a half year old, she has tiny hairs all over her body more than a normal child would have. I have seen kids like her, but i wonder how to reduce the growth and make them fall off. I tried bathing her with kasthuri manjal, but no difference. And my grandma use to say that bathing he with nattu marunthu called vasambhu will help, but i've not tried it. It's does not make any difference now, but i'm worried a lot that it may look odd when she grows up. Is there any home remedy or anyother suggesstion for this problem? Any response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Kavi,
my daughter has similar problem. She is only 20 months old but quite hairy. After giving her an oil massage , I used to apply a paste of besan/ chick pea flour, mixed with a little water and pinch turmeric, which is optional.
I would let the mixture dry on her body a bit and then rub it off with baby oil. It really worked. But the problem with me now is that my daughter wont let me apply this mixture. Well iam still trying, and you can too. It really works. But be gentle when u scrubb it off.
All the best.

Hi Ds,

Thanks for ur response!

When u say to allow to dry a bit, won't it hurt them when we rub off?

Anyway, if u find any other remedies, pls do share it with me.

Bye!

Hi Kavi,
I am in the same boat of yours. I too have a toddler (4 year old) girl who has got lot of tiny hairs on her legs, hands even on her face. I tried Kasthuri Manjal and it didn't seem to take the hair away and I too do not know what to do now.
Now my MIL says the regular manjal is what I should have tried. : (
Since I thought the regular manjal will be hard for her skin when she is young like now, I didn't try it. EVen now I am confused whether to use it since I am very sensitive to Manjal when I was a kid.
Let's hope some one will answer us on this. If you try something else please let me know too. I will also pass any ideas I get from outside of this board.

Hi Sugi,

I'm really sorry to hear about the skin rashes. Did u try to get advice from Indian doctors? U should be very carefull with her skin and also make sure that it is not due to any allergy to food, soap or even diary products.

If u can give more details about it, i can ask my mother and grandma for some Ayurvedic medicine which we can make at home.

You can also search in net with yahoo and google to find some home made remedies for the skin rashes and try which you feel is not harmful. I'll surely let u know whenever i get any suggestion regarding both.

Regarding vasambhu, my grandma asked to use them in the form of powder while taking bath as we do for manjal. I'm yet to talk to her and will confirm the info.

Ofcourse, i'm from TN, but coimbatore. If you can post your e-mail address in your next msg, i'll mail you all about and in that way we can keep in touch.

It's really nice knowing you!!

Take care! Bye.

Hi Kavi, Thanks very much for replying and sharing the information you know on this.
Now coming back to the discussion. No, I haven't tried vasambu yet. I read that in your post. But not sure how to use it. I have used only Kasthuri manjal so far. I am really scared to try anything as my daughter developed some kind of skin rashes too (after she turned 2 years). She gets kind of small boils all over her body and after 2 or 3 days it dries out and after the skin layer falls down, that place will look lighter in color than the other area. I already have consulted a dermatologist for this and not able to find a cure yet. That's another reason which stops me from trying 'regular manjal' and other things. If you know anything about this or if someone you know knows about this, please let me know that as well.

BTW, when you say vasambu, I think of something which we use to put 'pottu' for the babies. I am not sure whether you are aware of that. By reading your post, I assume you are from TamilNadu. Am I correct? I am also from TN actually chennai and now I too live in abroad. Which part of India are you from. I see lot of similar things between us. : ) Anyway, please let me know when you find a cure/remedy for this tiny hair issue.

Hi Sugi,
Glad to c ur reponse. Have u tried "vasambhu" whic i have mentioned above? My paati use to say that it would help to reduce the growth, but have not tried. As i live in aboard and also as she's sarted going to day school, i'm bit concerened of using manjal.
Anyway thanks a lot for ur response, i'll sure share if i come across any remedy. I'll once again comfirm with my Paati and convey the msg to u about using vasambhu.
