Due Date Club November 2003:Diaper genie & boppy

Name: Vindhya Are you all planning to get a diaper genie? If so, are the refills easily accessible? I know, Arshiya has bought a diaper pail, is this similar.

If you are planning to breast feed, are you going to use a boppy pillow?

The breastfeeding pillow you are talking about is infact called the boppy pillow.

I got Diaper Champ and boppy both in my shower. And I have heard they both are good. So I would recommend you to buy them.

Hi Vindhya

I am planning to buy a diaper champ that has no special bags refills like diaper genie and I have seen my friend use it. It certainly was effective in odor control. About the boppy does seem useful. The good size would the kind that can go around your waist I think (post pregnancy ofcourse :-) ) so that it is easier on your hands and arms for feeding the baby. You don't have to hold the baby up all the time but your hand can rest on the boppy. Plus it is a tummy time activity pillow for the baby later. Hope that helps, like all of you I try to get as much input I can from the experienced friends.

I have a Diaper Genie as well as a Boppy ( breastfeeding ) pillow, both given to me at my shower.
I've heard from new moms that they are both very useful items

Good Morning Girls.. :)

I looked into buying the diaper genie too but read that we can only use genie refills and no other and that kinda made me want to go with the regular diaper pail...

We were told in our class that it would be good idea in terms of convenience to invest in a breast feeding pillow (is that the same as the boppy pillow????) but yeah, they come in different sizes so we need to figure out which one would serve us better.... my hospital sells them, so I was going to buying it there depending on how my whole breast feeding thing goes..

This was the question I also had. I was also thinking of going for boppy but wanted to ask others opinion about it, is it really helpful?
Also, Diaper pail doesn't require refills.

Diaper pail sounds better. As for boppy, most of my co-workers do recommend it. But then, there are varieties of them, small and big. So, I am confused as to which one to go for. Let's see what others think and see if it is really needed.
