can anybody tell me what is pap smear?
what is the procedure of this test?
what should we do before going to the test?
i mean foods to aviod before going to test etc
should we shave bikini area before going to doctor?

i think i have some urine infection as it pains like hell everytime i piss out. i felt shy to go to doctor. now i really have to go as it is too much pain for me everytime & also we r planning for a baby in next couple of months.

is pap smear the same test to know if i have urine infection?

U should go to ur doctor immediately and she/he will suggest what to do. For pain while urinating I think ur doctor will tell u to do a pap test and also urine test but its best to take an appt immediately and ask them the details. If u have to go for pap smear test, u need not necessarily shave that area. If u have shaved before, then its okay, u can shave it one day before going. If u r not used to shaving, then too its fine, if possible just trim it with scissors so that the long hairs wont come in the way during the test and before going for the test, have a shower and wear clean underwear. There is no particular food to avoid or eat during the test.
In that test, the doctor will tell u to undress and give a tissue paper type dress to wear. Then u will be told to spread ur legs and the dr. will insert something (I dont know what its called) into ur vagina and remove few cervix cells. The whole procedure will be for just 2 minutes. Even I had felt shy and kept avoiding the test, but then finally decided to do it since I too wanted to plan for a baby. Believe me, its better to do it soon. And it was not at all painful as some say it is. Ur case looks quite urgent, so dont delay it. Hope this helps. write if u want any more information.
