hi, i m a working mother of 16yr old boy who is studying in 10th standard. my problem is that he is so careless in studies, he even dont bother to look his books, often his teachers make complaints, he gets very less marks. v did our all efforts to make him study, but all in vain, can anyone help me in this matter. sathya replied. He is a very active child who doesn' t like to sit in one place. He behaves the same when he comes home trying to scream when you ask him something or answer very rudely. Doesn' t respect elders. I feel very guilty b' cose as a mother it was my responsiblity to take care of my child. He also does' t consentrate on what he is doing, there is lot of diversions. My inlaws take care of him once he comes back from school. please let me know if I can change his behaviour. abc replied. Look for his strength instead of focusing on his weakness. Is he good at sports, or in Art or Music? What interests him most? Try to bring to his attention that he has to be good at something, which can make him successful in future. Ask him what he would like to be in future, where he sees himself 4 years later, talk about some good examples. I am sure that this passing phase will soon pass and he will grow up to be a more responsible boy who knows what he wants in life. He could have good managerial skills, leadership qualities, business skills which will help him as an adult. Just try to find out his strength and focus on that,as for his studies, dont worry too much, but tell him the importance .Give him some freedom so that he becomes more responsible for his own fate.At this age there are bound to be other distractions, so try to keep those away as much as you can, so that he is better able to concentrate.Also challenge him, sometimes boys like to be challenged.Confide in him and tell him that he is a good person, only a little responsibility will make him shine.
