Feeding:Feeding schedule for 17-mth old

I have a 17-month old who eats most stuff (luckily) but her only problem is her appetite. I used to let her eat only as much as she wants (as most of you would suggest) but then found that she has not gained any weight over the past 2 months.
The recommended intake for a child her age is MORE than 1/2 cup of food at each of the 5 meals, right??? + at least 2 cups of milk a day?

But somehow she finds it difficult to eat that much with ease every 2 hours. Given her choice, she would not eat more than 1/4 cup of food at a meal (and then again, she eats only 4 meals due to her longer sleep schedule) I was wondering how you all feed your kids (the amounts and schedule, including the nap time). Here's our daily schedule:

4 am and 7 am: Breastfeed (she goes back to sleep during this)
9 am to 10 am: Wake-up and breakfast (1/2 egg-yolk, 1/2 cup cheerios + 1 tbsp fruits, 3 oz. milk)
12 noon to 1 pm: Lunch (1/2 cup rice + 1 oz. yogurt, 1 tbsp veggies, 2 oz. milk)
2 pm: Breastfeed to nap
4 pm: Little breastfeeding
5 pm to 6 pm: Snack (1/2 cup pasta/couscous/chopped fruits or 1 slice bread with cheese, 3 oz. milk)
8 pm: Dinner (1/2 cup rice + yogurt or 1 slice of bread, 1 tbsp veggies, 2 oz. milk)
10 pm: Breastfeed to sleep

Since she is so full with the meals, she does not even breastfeed much nowadays (maybe 6 to 8 oz. maximum a day)

Please lmk your schedules and amounts. My dd is a 21 lbs. active kid and for her activity level, I would have thought her appetite would be good but...

Thanks,
V

hi
i'm a mom of 15 month old boy and he is now 23lb. he is also slim but strong and active and very happy baby.
i can tell u what i feed to my baby and how offten i feed him.i live in canada,so i have his family doctor here who told me to give this and that type of food which can make baby more healthier.and u know when my son was 1 year old he is not even 5% babies(according to weight and height ratio chart) but then i work hard on him and now he is atleast 30% of babies,i'm still working on him and try to count him in 50-75% babies.
i offer him breast feed when ever he want to sleep like he sleeps 3 time in 24 hr.10 hr in night then i offer him bottle milk because he get thirsty and drink all.then 3am to 7 am second bottle of 240 ml.(in that way he drink 500 ml milk with bottle).
after that 8am full two cup rice and fruit cereals which he take in two shifts.one at 8am and second at 10am.
12noon breast feed properly and he get sleep till 2pm.
2pm two orange juice/4 oz curd/cheese etc.(different daily but try my best to offer him juice daily).
3pm breast feed and play with him so that he get tired and feel more hungry.
4pm vegetables(1 carrots with sweet patato/daal put some ghee in it/broccali with peas, beans and other vegges etc).
5.30pm some nuts(almond, peanut butter jam) with more milk.
then go for a long walk for a change.
then in dinner time offer some meat product.it think that's what u are missing in ur meal.
7.30 little chicken/turkey.if not interested then cereal with oats.
and 8.30pm bed time bf him.
and again he woke up him self for milk bottle.
so that's the way i feed my baby.
some times he is not interested in taking that much amount but i still offer him.some times baby is full and really don't want the stuff for eating.
it depends.babies like fun and outing more then playing in home.so do that part also cause that is v.important.
hope this help.
just want to know where u living?

How do u know how much you are feeding since u said you are breastfeeding? I think your solid feeding is ok, except that u need to add dal to rice. Also, instead of 1tbsp fruits you can give a whole banana every day. And add a little ghee to her rice.

Hi Shalu,
Well, I do give her a whole banana or any such high-cal whole fruit at snack time. It's only the meal-times that I give her the veggies. But anyway, thx for your sugestion. :)
(BTW, the amount of breastmilk is my own estimate derived from number of active sucks after letdown etc... You know, it's one of those things a Mom just knows. :) )
