Hi,
I have 18 months old daughter and she loves indian food. Use Olive Oil instead of Ghee. Olive Oil is the healthiest oil you could find. She loves parathas. When you cook parathas on Tava, add little bit of oil on paratha. I always experiment with parathas by adding different veggies in it. I make Spinach parathas which she loves. Also Alu (Potato) parathas, Cauliflower-Alu parathas. Yesterday I tried Cabbage-potato parathas, and she loved it. It's one way to give them vegge they don't like. Also I make Khichdi with potatoes, carrots, cabbage, onion as well as any veggie I could find. So experiment with different food.

Good Luck,

Hi Tina

My daughter is 17 months and although I live abroad, she mostly likes to eat indian food. Instead of moong dal, trying giving him thoor dal. Pressure cook rice, dal (little quantity) and any vegetables and make is overboiled with more quantity of water. This may feel to him like the bottled food you are giving.

I also give milk and biscuits sometimes for breakfast. Just mash up the milk bikis in warm milk and feed.

I don't know about ragi, as I never make it. Try chicken nuggets, tuna fish, etc.

My daughter sometimes eats parathas, pooris. The secret would be to make the roti atta with hot water, adding some ghee in the dough. Also do not cook the paratha for long time as it wl make it hard. Maybe you can keep it closed in casserole for a few minutes as it will make it softer. Then immediately feed it to your son. Don't keep it for too long as it will get hard.

May be you should have him near you when you are eating your food and he may pick up things from your plate and eat. My daughter tried out roti and palak paneer this way and seems to have liked it.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tina,
While kneeding the dough to make roti, add warm oil. Also if you have the electric roti press/maker, try not to use it. Roll it on the counter top in our traditional way.
Hope this helps!
