• SUGI Kheer or UPAMA is Good & Filling for children.
• U can get tinned oats in form of flakes. U can boil that in water and it melts. If u want u can make it watery.
• got this receipie recently. In one put take water, put little wheat atta, haldi, salt, jirapud, little red chilly, suger and ghee, then put it on gas, stir it for some time, let it become sort of paste, serve it warm, my kid loved it. All the best.
• You can try making thick dosas shaped liked small circles and add chopped onion, tomato as topping and cover and cook it
• U need to cook tur dal & methi with haldi.Mash it(I usually put it in ablender so it becomes smooth)Cut onions & garlic.Heat oil & put mustard seeds. When they crackle add hing, onions & garlic.Saute till onions become golden. Then add the dal, salt & jaggery.U can add a little garam or goda masala.I sometimes add spinch along with methi.A nutritious dal is ready.
• U can try out for dhalia kheer or dhalia khichdi. For dhalia kheer u need to boil dhalia(in pressure cooker) with enough water and add jaggery in it. This is a good and nutrious breakfast.
• For dhalia khichdi, u can boil dhalia with moong dal wiht little turmeric and cumin seeds. And then serve with salt.
• U can include ragi which is rich in iron content and it is stomach filling too. I use ragi powder. I boil it in water and keep stirring it and then add jaggery and milk. My son loves to eat it.
• Biscuits mixed with milk .
• Rice water, dal ka pani,
• mixed vegetable boiled together. add some cheese or butter as soon as they are boiled and mash these vegetables and pass through a seive or a muslin cloth.
• My child had teeth by 5 months so I could intrduce more variety, But you can also give a grape wrapped in a clean muslin cloth and let the baby bite it with gums and enjoy the juice.
• By now your baby must be six months , so you can also introduce plain cheese slices or boiled egg throughly mashed mixed with a big blob of butter
• u can give oats mixed with milk. receipe is take little ghee in deckchi, then put oats in it and when it sputtters put sugar and milk. can add a crushed almond or cashewnut. but make a paste of oats before giving to ur child.
• Try bread with milk. Give roti with mashed banana or Roti soaked in milk. Idli or Dosai soaked in fresh curd or give with ghee/sugar mix.
• Prepare dosai with finely grated carrot topping or sugar topping.
• Cook rice to very soft by increasing the water (preferably pressure cook).
Give rice with dhal, fresh curd, tomato rasam , cooked vegetables. Please don’t grind the cooked rice in mixer or blender. It will take off the original taste of the food. Mix with hand or spatula.
• You can try the following dish to give with rice
Cook any of these vegetables (finely cut) like cabbage, chow chow, cucumber, sqaush, palak with salt and cook till the vegetable is soft. Cook moong dhal seperately and add cooked vegetable let it cook for a minute or so and add a pinch of cumin powder. Try feeding with ghee.
• Cook palak with only 1 garlic flake and cumin add salt and grind it finely in a mixer and give with rice.
• You can also cook rice with moong dhal to very soft. Mix salt, cumin powder and ghee before you feed.
• Try mashed bananas with honey
• make atta of jowar, bajra, chana and rice and keep it for breakfast i make rotis of this mix atta with spices and salt and i add wheat atta too this gives the kids nutrition of all the cereals i also make toasted sandwiches with vegetables and pulses cooked which is also very filling
• give daal (toor/moong/masoor or combination) boiled with veggies(peas/carrots/cauliflower/potatoes..etc) with a little ghee, salt and turmeric. My 10 month old enjoys it. Not all days are the same. So I also do spoon mashed fruits or veggies mixed with cereal. Very recently I steamed apples with cinnamon. Remove cinnamon and mash steamed apples with spoon. My daughter loves them.
• you can give your daughter dalia. This is good for health and can be given sweat and can also be given as ;
take 1tbsp dalia and 1tbsp dal (any like moong, masoor etc), salt and pressure cook it and add lemon juice and ghee before serving.
You can also add any vegetable (finely chopped) to dalia and dal.
