Eating Problems:Not gaining Weight
2004-03-15
Name: ekoshie

My daughter when born was abt 2.81 kgs and now at 18 months she weighs abt 8.3 kgs. She is grossly underweight and we are worried abt her not gaining weight. Her head growth is normal according to the Doctore but her body is too thin and the doctor says her head is too big for her body. She is a lively child and is the joy of out lives. She is very fussy and doesn't have any appetite. Any amount of coaxing and cajoling will not make her eat. With great difficulty she eats 4 times a day(small quantities) and drinks milk too. This doesn't seem gud enuff and shes not gaining weight. She still hasn't got her teeth although she is abt 18 months now . The doctor has prescribed iron drops and multivitamin drops too. But that hasn't helped her either ! We are at our wits end and dunno what to do... I was just browsing the net and was reading that such a condition is known as \";Failure to Thrive\"; and such children need to go for therapy. Do u think we have specialists who treat this condition in India ? and specifically in Bangalore ? Please help us...Any suggestions please ?
