Nurseries and Schools:Are ALL Indian playschools awful?

Hello, I'm new to Indian schools. Could you help me understand the HUGE emphasis on penmanship? Every playschool I've visited has been: dirty, few if any toys and the ones they have are dirty and broken, the crafts are extremely uncreative, the kids spend a large amount of time sitting and waiting for the teachers to get their lessons together, and the the rest of the time writing numbers and letters until their hands are numb. How is making a 3 year old write the alphabet beneficial? Why is there no emphasis on creative thinking? Again, why on earth is penmanship deemed so wonderful that it takes up the entire school day for these little kids who would enjoy and I think SHOULD enjoy much more stimulating activities?

Dear Parent,
Check out Podar Jumbo Kids Scoobees pre school!
I can understand that you have had bad experiences with other preschools. But let me take this opportunity to introduce Jumbo kids Scoobees to you.

Here at Scoobees we have 5 classes:
Little School- 1-2 yrs (2005 born)
Play school - 2-3 yrs (2004 born)
Nursery - 3-4 yrs (2003 born)
Jr KG - 4-5 yrs (2002 born)
Sr.KG- 5-6 yrs (2001 born)

Jumbo Kids is a reputed chain of pre school with its head office Mumbai. We have 30 centers in India. We have 2 centers in Pune. The Kondhwa branch is by far the biggest pre school in Pune. We have facilities like the splash pool, sand pit, traffic park, vegetable patch, parachute play, Puppet theatre, library and loads of open space making our school stand apart.
We have qualified teachers, trained at regular intervals in the lastest teaching techniques. Our curriculum is unique and well planned. Clean and disciplined staff to take care of the children when they are with us. The hygiene levels maintained in the school are the best you can find.
The toys, equipments and teaching aids we use are imported, not becoz they are expensive but becoz they are child safe. Safety aspects for the children are taken care of in the way we have designed the school.
We provide transport facility to and fro for the children.
We make a child's experience of coming to school an enjoyable one. And the curriculum we follow makes sure your child \";learns everyday and loves every minute\";
I would appreciate it if you could come and see us and the school when ever you have the time.

m, I don't want to badmouth a particular school, so I'm hesitant to share the name (I'll just say it uses Disney's mini mouse as its mascot). Since your daughter is young, you have more flexibility than I did and can check out many schools that I couldn't. My friend's daughter is in Canterbury Kids, and they are very pleased with it. And another friend has her 3 year old daughter at Seigert (sp?) and likes it (she was at the same one as my kids, but left for the same reasons I did). Still, if I were you, I'd ask LOTS of questions about how the time is actually spent. Even better, see if you can visit when school is in session to see for yourself what the kids do. At the one I went to, the principal stated that they had lots of different activities, but she essentially lied. She even had the nerve to give a year-end report giving both my kids A+'s in "computer skills" when my older one got to use it a total of 2 times, and my younger one never used it once!

hi,
there is less creativity at some school , but all are not the same.i dont know where u are placed , but i can definately point out a few gd ones at pune. And the childs creativity will also surface to a small extent , but a lot depends on parenting too.

Actually, I am in Pune. And I've visited a very large number of the playschools here. I put my kids in one that was supposed to be "the best," and it was horrible.

Toddlers are at a crucial stage of learning, where foundational skills for life are being developed. At Skillmatics, we believe toddlers should be learning cognitive abilities like problem-solving, memory building, and recognition of shapes, colors, and patterns.
