I have a 51/2 month old son.I'm feeding him Cerelac apart from my milk.Can anyone telll me what similar foods are available in US since I'm going abck now after a 4 month stay here.Also he never ever cries for hunger even if 8 hrs go by so how often should I be breastfeeding him at this age.

Oh yeah...all cereals come from gerber and u can find in baby aisle of all supermarkets.I was breastfeeding her till 4 months and then I didnot have milk.Am feeding her with enfamil formula now.

am actually mahalakshmi santhanam :-) am presently in the US and have 5 1/2 months old daughter. Here I get rice cereals,oatmeal,barley cereals. They come single or combo ...like rice with apple,oatmeal with banana. Here doc advise if baby is Ok with cereal , u can SLOWLY start with fruits n veggies. they come in small jars(u can find in all supermarkets) from Gerber/Beechnut-Organics.
Try first with rice cereals then move to oat/barley as rice is easy to digest.
See some babies cry for hunger some dont.They just sleep with hunger.They mainly cry in first 3 months.this I found with my daughter.I was in same boat like u sometime back.They make little little noise for hunger...we think they r playing n left off. If u dont feed they will sleep.Dont do like that...may be after 3-4 hrs u urself try feeding him.See wteher he pushes u or not. Also see for some clues like taking the hand to mouth for hunger than crying.
Am feeding my 5.5 mnsth baby every 4-5 hrs around 4-5oz.
