Name: Hetal
got it checked,,here you go girl.
thanks for puttng it to my notice !
his current wght is around 1kgs leess and can be achvd, not a prob !
if he eats little, offer him mini meals !
as far as his potty timings are considered-please note that in ne human body the food that goes inside the stomach, doesnt come out at once !
if it has to come out once, it will come only by vomitng.
the process of digestion takes around 2-4hours dpending on what you had or your baby had during his meals...
the bowels he passes is the prev meals undigested or leftout portion and not the one he just had.
even if lets say he will have lil food, that pressure will not occur and it will not clear his bowels.
so make sure he eats well/full meals if you want his bowels to get cleard on timely basis.
what goes in also comes out, but after it passes thru the digestion process only and not before that !
if its indigestion(which you think it is) thn your child wght would have worst or let me put it this way that your child bowels would have undigested portions of food, which is again not the case !
and he becomes hungry after a while because his prev meal(not the meal that he just had) is already digested and he needs to fill in the stomach.
the stomach that is not clear is not able to eat full(even though that might be full meal for you),so he is finishng his left out meal later after clearng his bowels.
what your child needs is variety, so offer diff alternatives in one meal.
make sure he sees what he eats and make it intterestng but makng it colourful and cuttng with cookie cutter in diff shapes or vegies of diff colour or diff texture might interest him.
your child is around 1 kg less which is not underwght because m still not considrng the body mass index or fat levels and also considrng that your child is above 2 years and that leavn in US you must be givng him 2 milk (if so, switch him to whole milk for a while and watch his wght, OR introduce him to some milk additives like horlicks etc) which will ensure all good nutrients that he needs because he is not underwght, only a bit less compard to expectd wght which is very normal in healthy active toddler !
instead of smuckers jam look for some mixed fruit jam that doesn’t contain sugar or is natural fruit preserve without ne other sweet additives or corn syrup.
you will find those in malls where mostly pure things are available like whole foods and such ! if your child is in habit of something(that’s not good for health), try to offer that thing in the purest form possible at your reach or else reduce the amt n try to avoid offering it,just touch the food/spoon tip with the jam and thn give him food !!
to me he looks quite active toddler and i just think he needs a lil push of milk additive rather thn health drink like pedisure !!
if your child was underwght like 3-4kgs back or just 7-8kgs of wght at this age, yes i would have recmnded you pedisure upfront, for one feed only !
for 30months old,i expect a healthy, active toddler to eat as below :
minimeals include :
1. milk feed after he wakes up.
2. breakfast – a good source of protein, with a serving of fat, with some fibr //answer : bread with butter with 1 egg(boiled or omellete), or if vegie ( raagi ) with some nuts !
also if in US, there are cereal like cherios and such others available for kids,,you can offer that too ! offerng fresh home made breakfast like tofu paratha, oatmeal(quaker instant oatmeal), or so is also a good alternative.
3. brunch / offer something to much,,let it be pieces of apples, fruits or ne such snacks or say roti with jam !! ///// some kids skip it, mostly if they arre good in eating breakfast ! no worries.
4. lunch – offer family foods,,make sure he eats all roti, curries, rice, dals,a serving of curd if possible etc,,,
5. juice time, 100 juice,,often buy the ones you get in those tiny lil tetra packs, available in baby stores,,just right for serving and they have it with straws so great to drink it yourself !
along with juice, offer some oatmeal cookies, or multigrain toast with some cream cheese or cheese sandvich or a light butter on it (make it on pan instead of toaster.the ones on pan are soft nd kids love them more thn the toaster oven ones ! )
6. dinner time – whatever family eats…
7. milk feed of 5-6oz, with some milk additive before sleep !
put your child to 4-5hours schedule and plan his meals from the time he wakesup and not acc to his everyday timings like if today he had breakfast at 9, tommrow also, he has to have it at that time, instead try to wake him up around 8,and make his schedule from 8 to night 10(at the most or 1030)
and in between he will take an hour or more of a small afternoon nap,,dpending on his activity level !!
at this age, he is expected to eat around 1/2 of an adult serving like 1/2roti, 1/2serving of curry(from your serving size),and 1/2serving of dal(from your servng size, and 1/2 serving of rice, which totals to around 2cups of food in one full meal/lunch or dinner as well as breakfast(1/2cup of cereal ! )
that’s all he is expected to take so go slow and put him to regular routine,if he has a body type which clears bowels with mini meals and regular food intake at diff intervals thn by doing so, you can estimate his bowel timings(by ensuring he eats well) and thn you can potty train him.
good luck !
