Due Date Club July 2005:My daughter

Name: Soumya

Hi,
Though I have written only a few posts on this board, I regularly read all the messages. At present, am very worried because of the way my 5 month old daughter sticks on to me. I am a working mother, and have arranged a baby-sitter, who looks after her very well. But the moment I leave her with the ayah, my daughter cries a lot. My husband comes home late in the evenings, and takes teh kid as soon as he reaches. But she is reluctant to even go to him. She starts crying when he takes her.
On holidays too, she sits on my lap, and smiles at him.. plaays with him... but doesnt go to him at all. Am very worried about this behaviour of hers. My hubby makes it a point to carry her.. play with her and all that but when she behaves like this, he also feels very sad.
Please advise me on what to do in this issue.
Regards,
Soumya

Hi Soumya,
I can imagine your situation and wondering in this scenario how are you managing work and her both? Its really difficult. For how many hours are you leaving her to Ayah, is she coming to your house or you r leaving yr daughter to Ayah place? How she is managing her. WHy I am asking this as then the same technique can be implemented at home too.
Sometime when child see only 2 people at home, get so much attached to them that don't go to stranger but in yr case she is not even going to father.
I am not able to think any solution, can't both (u and hubby) try taking her out for 4-5hrs and keep her with father and see how she reacts his company.
Sometime guys just carry baby but don't talk and interact in baby preferred manner, see if that is the case. Your hubby can take her for walk without you.
You really have to try all possible option, more then that I don't know what to say.
Take care,
Sudha

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
