As a regular reader of this Group,I have a doubt.Iam trying to conceive for my second child for almost a year now.My periods are like 28-30days.Tried OPK but no positive results of pregnancy.This time Iam still having a week's time to expect my periods,in the mean while I called my OB/GYN and told her about my delay of conceiving,she said if i get my periods then she asked me to take Clomid 50mg. from the 5th-10th day of that cylcle.I just want to know has anybody here taken Clomid and conceived and how long did it took you to conceive?

Dear Lakshmi,

If you are tried over a year then your case is perfectly suitable to investigate more on what's that holding it back.

If you are in late 30s then you will take longer to get pregnant and may be use of Clomid will help you getting pregnant.

But if you are not in late 30s then you would also want to investigate on your husbands side. Use of Clomid without knowing that any problems associated with your ovulation would be of waste. If your periods are regular and of 28-30 days then less likely you have ovulation problem. You should know that from OPK, as you say you did make use of them. If you ovulate but don't get pregnant then do more than trying with clomid.

dear archi and lakshmi,
i am also 32 yrs old and going to be 33 next mnt.i am also trying for a second child since last 5 cycles but no results.i am studing cervical mucus method and my cycles vary from 25-30 days.last one was 28 days.i do conceive during my fertile period every time thinking this time it might happen but when i do testing it is always negative.i feel i am wasting money in this as till now i must have used 7-8pregnancy tests,as it comes negative i again try after 4-5 days.

now my question is what is this clomid and can anyone take .what does and how does it help in conceiving.

i have 1 son who is 8 yrs old and it was unplanned pregnancy and i conceived in 6 mnts after our marriage.all these yrs we did not want and were never trying.

can u help me out or should i wait for some more cycles.i have started taking folic acid and vitamin e tablets since last mnt.

It's clear to me now

Dear Lakshmi,
I did not understand in your very first message about your OPK.
If you did not get surge while using OPK but got periods clearly demonstrate that you need help on ovulation part. Clomid can work miraculous in this case. True looking at your case your husband does not need to go through analysis, at least at this stage.

I am going to turn 32yrs.this New Year.I tried the OPK'S but no positive surge lines with my period cycle 28-30days.I already have a 4yr.old son.and I got pregnant with my second one and got miscarried in 6wks.So after that it has been a year now of trying. My OB/GYN told me that there is no need of my husband getting tested.So that's why she suggested me to take clomid in case I get the periods this cycle.

I am also trying for my second baby and after 1 yr of trying I took 5 clomid cycles and there was no success, then I went to Laproscopy surgery, then with the clomid I concieved but had miscarriage. Dr asked me to wait two months and then try again with the clomid. Clomid works to release egg for sure. If u don't have any other problems like hormones issues etc., you'll concieve.
