Hey All parents out there,

My baby girls 1year and 9 months old has had a full blown case of Measles despite the fact that she was given 2 measles vaccines! 1 when she was 9 months old and the other was the MMR vaccine when she was 15 months old! I got such a shock when she got it because after getting her shots I thot now we are all safe and I don't have to struggle with these problems! The paediatrician ofcourse refused to accept the fact that this was a case of measles as it would tell on him so he tried to pass it off as Dengue / Scarlet Fever! Ridiculous - So I took a second opinion and there was the answer to my questions - Apparently if the cold chain is broken while storing of these vaccines then the virus which is live while it is being injected as a vaccine can live inside the person till it becomes a full blown case of the disease! I mean where are all the ethics gone! There weren't any already but this one was shocking!Why are we allowing these so called doctors to ruin our lives if they cannot even maintain healthy standards! And please take note that my paediatrician is one of the very popular guys in Bangalore and I used to go to him only because I was so \";Impressed\"; by his hygiene standards! If any of you have had similar problems let me know and this would help if we could sort out this problem in some way and have the doctors more responsible for their profession and their patients who have not even stepped into the mainstream of life! - ANY SUGGESTIONS? I was horrified to read this. So what's the use giving vaccinations and sometimes they are costly also to kids when they are not secure.

My son is 6 mths old. He'll be given MMR vaccine in 9 mths and last month he was given HIB's first dose. Since its not in Government's vaccination plan I had to do this privately which cost me good bucks. But the point is we want our kids to be safe and stay healthy.
The system is responsible for this neglegience.

I have a 18 months old daughter who has been given the vaccination (MMR) nd of 15 months. I wanted to know after how long did your daughter get Measles after the last vaccination?

Also I think it is not the docter's fault regarding the storing of the vacci. The problem lies when they are shipped from the pharmacy to the clinics. Especially in India this is very rampant. Imagine if it is possible to send a refrigerated wagon to remote villages!!!! I think the whole system is at fault somewhere....

I hope your baby is doing fine now and recuperated off that ailment. I have a just turned 10 month old baby and we recently got her vaccinated for measles. I m thankful to you for letting me know of such a case. I would have been in the so called 'tense free' had i not knwom about your case. I think we need to check on the doctors before they do the act. But i know its easier said than done. Do let me knw if any suggestions in this regard are passed on to you.
anyway. Take care of yourself and the baby ofcourse. I know how it feels to see your kid in trouble.
