Breastfeeding:HELP!! Problems with vit. D milk

Hi,

My baby has been exclusively breastfed till he was 9 months old. At 9 the doc said I should start vit. D (cow's) milk, since his weight gain has been terrible. It's been more han 2 months since I started vit D., but he simply REFUSES to have it. I can also feel my breast milk reduce drastically, so I don't know how long I can nurse him now. Does anyone here have kids who're fussy abt milk? I've tried giving him milk with all sorts of flavors and at all temperatures (chilled, cold, room, warm)...nothing works, he just pushes it away with both his hands or clamps his lips tightly together.

His weight gain is SO bad, he's just 14.5 lb, and he'll be a year old in 2 weeks!! He does eat well though...I cook all his food in milk (raagi / even rice & dal!!), but it still doesn't come up to the daily necessary milk supply. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help!! Thanks

1stly... Your child needs more protein supplements. If he refuses milk, that is ok. As long as he gets the protein. Buy the kids meals like chicken with rice, or pastas, or meat sticks. anything that is high in protein. Protein is what will give him his weight. A child doesnt have to drink or like milk, as long as they get the supplements elsewhere. Hope this helps

try changing the nipple that helps sometimes also for weight gain give him yogurt, banana shake. it's fine if he takes raagi , dal-rice with milk just make habit of wiping his gums or teeth with wet cloth atleast once a day.my son is 8 months now and i had the similar problem. he was so reluctant of taking simple dal rice with just salt in it. you know they have taste buds too. if we don't like taste of smething i'm sure they don't like it too. try making daal -rice with some tomatoes , some veggie (my son don't eat with out cauliflower )little salt , cumin powder , a pinch of sugar and 1/4 tsp of ghee. my son likes the taste. also when you feed him something he likes try giving him egg in between ..if he makes the faces that't fine..continue with that and keep try again.. it works with my son :) let me know if that helps

Hi Gauri,

As suggested by mdh u can put a little sugar and try as breast milk will be sweety. Also first dilute the milk with half water with little sugar added to it. Slowly u can increase the concentration of the milk. Initially my baby also resisted to drink but gradually she got used to it. Try giving some drops of milk in spoon or sipper if he got used to one when he is really hungry. Hope this helps you

hi
my baby was also very fussy about milk, but now he is doing ok.i went to doctor for my son and he said he is not taking milk because breastmilk is really very sweet in taste.he finds the same kind of sweetness in milk.why don't u put a little bit of sugar in milk and when he get use to then u can decrease it.u don't have to cook his food in milk.just offer him the regular food what u eat but without salt/chilli etc.don't worry about having food by him,he will eat when ever he is ready.try milk when he is really hungry.
hope this help
let me know if it doesn't work.
mdh

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth. Ideally, I'd like to finally explore this with the right female. If you are in or near... - Sanjayhyd [View Message]
