my baby's pediatrician says that the most important thing even at this age is the formular. My baby is 8 months old as well and his doctor says that he should take approx 4 oz every three hrs. My baby used to sleep until 8.00am since he was 6 weeks, but his new doctor after finding out recently told us that it is not good for him. This is what we do now;
between 5.00-5.30am - milk . he takes anywhere between 3-5 at this time.
8.00-8.30am milk- 3-5oz
9.30am rice cereal. I use the individually packed ones. I add 2 scoops of formular and water to the cereal.
massage I wait for 15mins or so, after feeding cereal
10.30-11.00 milk 3-5oz. After this feeding he takes a 2-3hr nap.
1-2pm. milk 3-5oz whenever he wakes up from his nap.
bath after this feeding, then him and i spend time together, go for walk, play...
3.00pm gerber stage 3 vegetable or fruit solid food. or sometimes I make a little something for him.
4.00pm milk 3-5oz
6.00-6.30pm milk 3-5oz
8.30pm milk 3-5oz
9.30-10.30pm milk 3-5oz
sleeps

he finshes anywhere between 28- 35 oz per day. At times when he looks very hungry during the day or at night, I make 6 oz as well. He does finsh 6oz at one sitting once or twice a day.
WHen my baby gets aggitated during the feeding, I cover the bottle with something...piece of cloth or something. He seems less agitated when I do this. Sometimes when does not eat after 3 hrs, I wait for another hr and try feeding him then. ALl this has worked for us. It sometimes is a challege to feed him and he mostly seems to be fine. Hope this helps.

Morning after getting up: milk (1/2 a cup)

After 1 hr:
Ragi mix/Idli with very diluted chutney or little sugar/ Noodles/Suji Uppuma or whatever you
eat in the morning, which is cooked well and easy to swallow

After an hour or two
Mid morning - Fruit juice/veg soup/greens soup (10 teaspoons roughly)

After 2 or 3 hrs. (at 1 or 2)
Afternoon - Dal rice/Vegetable rice/Ghee rice/Curd rice/Rasam rice
Atleast 3 varieties.
Qty: All together 15 teaspoons..This is only approximate. You first feed her
one variety, when he seems to be disinterested or starts refusing slightly, start
the second variety and then after he shows the sign of refusal to this start
the third variety. In a few days, you'll know how much your kid needs.

After a min.of 2 hrs.
Mashed apple/banana (any variety). You can give steamed banana(the long yellow one found
in plenty in Kerala side), once a week.

After 2 hrs. (at around 5 or 6)
Evening - Vermicelli Payasam (ghee, vermicelli, milk(or water),jaggery, powdered cashews)/Kheer
(10 teaspoons)

Night
The same as afternoon...preferably easily digestible ones.

Note:
-----
Fruit juice or soup mashed apple/banana give him the quantity till he accepts. He may refuse
in the beginning itself. Its OK ..don't loose heart. Try to find out what he likes.
Keep introducing new varieties as much as possible. Kids get averted to certain foods
which are given continuously.

The quantities which I've mentioned are rough estimates. You can increase/decrease
them according to your kid's response.

Do not force him. Once you make sure that he does'nt like something, don't compell him.
The baby learns to spit first and then to swallow.
Give boiled and cooled water.
Breast feed as many times as possible.

If you still want a clear picture of what to feed your kid, you can consult a dietician.
