Hi
I have been reading your replies, and would first like to thank you for your help, by writing your replies even though u no longer are TTC. And a very big congratulations on your baby boy.

I have a some queries..i have been visiting dr Mahajan , would u know anythin about her..i also have tb of the uterus and am taking medication for it, and plan to finish the course. However the dr want to do the menstrual blood biopsy as i have finished 4 months of the medication, and if tb is not found then to go ahead with IUI, this would be my second attempt.
my tubes are not blocked and am ovulating on time.
who was your doctor..and does she have all the facilities in her laboratory ??
also with medications like duphaston and all the stimulation injections of the IUI were there any side effects and if yes how does one take care of it. Like i get severe constipation and water retention and abdominal bloating!!
thank you in advance for taking time to read and reply...

Please pray for me :)

thought could be of help to you , so here iam replying uninvited!

You should continue ur medications for tb and complete the course ,6 months or 9 months, whichever it is. As to testing for tb now by ur doc is fine ...she plans to study the menstrual blood ( it is not biopsy )for the tuberculosis bacillus which can detected by various methods ..Like DNA/RNA by PCR , or culture of 6- 8 weeks .Actually it very much possible that ur endometrial tb is cured by now , but course needs to be completed without any breaks in between otherwise multidrug resistant form of difficult to cure tb can arise later. However, many docs believe in completing medications and then starting IUI /IVF ....few patients actually conceive naturally esp if tubes are not blocked after treatment....read about neha , sowdha ...shewetha in the forums in this site.

Because the tb medications -rifampicin and ethambutol can cause harmful effects to the baby if one conceives, some studies say so in rats...so no doc takes risk...but seems like moneyminting docs are behind you....sorry thats my opinion...

I have completed my treatment course and trying for natural conception before going for IUI/IVF.

hope it helped ...

Subject:  genital TB detected AFTER embryo transfer

Hi! i noticed you´ d written this message many years ago, are you still on this forum? How did your TB issue get resolved?

I underwent a hysteroscopy prior to my 2nd IVF attempt, during which my doc did endometrial biopsy and sent the sample to the lab for mycobacterium culture test. It came negative for the 1st week and 2nd week, after which doctor did my embryo transfer.

Now, after 4 weeks, suddenly the sample has turned positive for TB. I´ m in shock and don´ t know how this will effect my chances of embryo implantation, how the treatment of TB will be, etc etc.

I´ m still 1 week away from my pregnancy test, hence very, very worried.

It´ ll be great if you can share your inputs with me.

Thanks and regards,
zoya
