I want to know the pro's and con's of thumbsucking for newborn babies i had a baby 4 weeks ago she breastfeeds more as she sucks her thumb i am worried if the habit catches on as she grows up what should i do
Hetal replied. this is very normal...some babies pull thr ears, some pull mothers clothes, some fold thr fist tightly,,some sweat, some suck thumbs.
its all the signs that means that baby was badly hungry and needs the feed.
offer your feeds 5min before feeding time,,it will solve the issue,,
make him wear mittens, and now that he is 1month old,,whenver he tries to put his finger in his mouth,,see if he is able to grab hold of small toy that is like ring,,it will help him master his coordnation skills and it will also stop the habit !
about pros n cons,,its too early for you to think about it.
whenver he seems to be doing this,,make sure to relax him,,some babies gets into anxty, excitment before bf,,or just aftr bf,,and its quite normal to express it in form of all of these expressions !
