my 4.5 months old baby got runny nose with mucous and difficulty to breathe since 4 days. she also has cough and sneezing. she doesn't sleep at night due to difficulty in breathing.when i contacted my dr she told u can give tylenol drops. but i am afraid wether it is safe to give for cold.i have read somewhere that tylenol drops will affect liver functioning. i am very much worried.please help. and is there any home remedy for babies cold. ruchika replied. hi anu,
here are sme home remedies u can have look.

Cold

1.If the baby is less than six months old, take 4-5 nagarvel paans and place them on a sieve. Place the sieve on a cooking pan over a fire. 1 paan should be placed in the centre of the sieve to allow it to get moderately hot. These warm paans are then placed on the baby's chest one after another. However, make sure that the paans are not so hot that they burn the baby's skin. This procedure should be continued for about five minutes by re-heating the cooled paans.

In the case of babies over six months of age, one can use balls of soft cotton cloth in place of the paans. The balls of cloth should be heated on an indirect fire. The moderately warm balls of cloth should then be pressed gently against the baby's chest and back. Here again, make sure that the balls of cloth are at a temperature that will not affect the baby's tender skin. If it is not possible to heat the balls of cloth on an indirect fire, one can heat a piece of soft cotton cloth using a hot iron and then roll it into a ball.


i remember my daughter when had cold and blocked nose we used to suck all the mucous by mucous sucker (i was in korea there it was available) and u can apply ltl of vicks also and saline water also works 1-2 drops in nose also its not harmful available at any chemist shp.

see u can apply ltl of brandy on his chest and toes (talwa).and cover him.

swapna replied. take 2tbsp of milk and 2 garlic cloves and mash it and put it to the milk and allow to boil so that 2tbsp becomes 1 tbsp. then cool and make the baby to drink or along with milk u can add pinch haldi to it and make the baby to drink and when ever u give bath to the baby take little brandy and put few drops of water to it and mix well then apply all over the body and palm and feet. good result try it.u can mail me if possible suman_nagaatrediffmaildotcom
