Shaving baby’s head is an important ceremony in Hindu communities. This ritual is associated with different religious beliefs. One such belief is that it liberates from the cycle of rebirth. It is essentially a purification ritual and huge function is organized. It can be done at one’s place or in a temple.

I have heard that shaving baby’s head frequently results in luxuriant hair growth. Is this true? My daughter has fine hair. I have shaved her head three times but still the growth is same. Do I need to shave more to get a good hair growth? What can I do for a good growth of hair?

Hi Neemi, Shaving baby’s head is a practice in some cultures and it is basically a ritual. Shaving has no effect on the hair growth. Hair growth is genetic. Shaving frequently has no bearing on hair growth. I didn’t shave my son’s hair but he has a fine hair growth.
