My 6 month old sons head is always hot. He doesn't have fever but it always hot. i have noticed this in the past 3 months or so... whenever he is in sitting position touching me, i can feel his warm head through my clothes! In the night before sleeping i alwys apply oil on his head t okeep it cool... for sometime it helps but then it returns to normal. Has anyone experienced this?

Don't worry Aarti.I had the same experience when my son was of that age.Just keep a drop of coconut oil on the top of his head.AS days go by he'' be normal. michael replied. Some people, like myself, have unusually high body temperatures. My daughter has also inherited this. Stop applying oil in head with aim to reduce the heat. In fact, oil traps the heat and may cause his head to accumulate more heat (or pitta as they call in ancient texts).

If you do want to apply oil, do it the right way. Apply it one hour before his bath time and wash his hair during the bath. The reason is that the skin can absorb all the oil that it can in 30 minutes. The remaining oil just remains in the head and may cause more harm than good. One problem is oil clogging the hair follicles.

Give him lots of water. Also, keep track of how much he urinates. The more the urination the lesser heat was remain in the body.

If his hair feels wet (due to sweat) it may be good idea to crop his hair short. It will help in cooling. And dont listen to the oldies talk about mundan stuff. Believe me short hair feels good for people with hot heads. I know. (But i am not a doctor.)
