Kindly tell me that giving Honey to new borned is how much wrong. i know it is wrong but as you all can understand the small curse of joint family system is that we have to listen and sometimes obey the Mother in laws old things. my mother in law told me that they give honey to the new borned, i opposed but i dnt know how much i can take stand. if some one tell me in detail the side effects so i can show this to her as the authenticated material.

jaya replied. i understand what you are saying about old traditions. my mom believes in these things very much.i made her read these posts when she wanted to give honey to my 6month old. she said it is very good for health but after reading these post she did not force me.But, after a week she was again after me. they can't forget their old traditions and it is difficult for us to make them understand. for inlaws it is more difficult.

Both the posts are opposites and the only difference is age.
take your mother in law to your doctor and ask your doctor about giving honey. you will not have to make her understand.
for my mom like i said before dat after reading the above posts also, some online google articles again in the next week she was again after me to give honey. luckily i had 6month check up for my baby and i took her alongwith me to my doc. i asked my doc about it and he bluntly said \" No, don't give honey before 1 year\" .
after that my mom is not at all talking about it :)

In short, honey contains some chemical which is toxic but it is broken down by bodies of elders, babies body cant do that. So it is risky. M hopin some one will point you to the honey message link.
For listening to elders, i wd talk to baby ped and request him to refuse ppl like mother in law. If that doesn not wory i will refuse her straigtway but politely, it will be useful in future also as she will not take u for granted ne more. When it comes to babies, no compromise i will make.
