Health Issues:Experienced moms ... Q on susu

This is a simple question, not a health problem or concern.

My 6m old baby passes urine some 10-15 times a day (which i know is healthy). By what age will this frequency decrease to 4-5 times a day? On an avg how many times does a baby pass urine at 8-10months?

(I use cloth nappies (india) and the weather is cold and no sunlight. Seems like an endless job of changing nappies and drying the washed ones, so want to know how long does this 'chakkar' go! Tried using diapers and nappi pads, especially overnights, the baby gets a rash)

Hi ,

I agree with the other mom . I think if you have a fairly good idea of how often your baby passes urine , you can actually hold baby over a sink or commode and say ssss - my son's been doing that since he was 6 mos old.

Also , notice which periods he/she is most likely to pass urine - my baby passes urine as soon as he wakes up from nap or sleep. so we take him immediately as soon as wakes up .

Have you ever used nappy rash cream before diaper ? I used Johnson's nappy rash cream and it's effective. Maybe you are leaving the skind wet after cleaning.

Thanks Minka ..
U r right, i was probably leaving the skin wet, and also i think the baby used to be in diaper for too long (9 pm to 8 am).

I will try training the baby and also try the Johnsons Rash cream starting with little cream.

I m having a tough time these days as the baby is having loose-motions since a week and is passing urine almost every 5 mins. Her skin is so sensitive to the loo, though we immdly clean it off, her skin becomes dark red wherenver the loose-motion touches. The doc has presribed medication so thats going on.

Changing cloth nappies (pyjamas) every little while, its so cold, little sunshine, the clothes take 2 days to dry .... and i m a working person ...
... so we r having fun with the baby!

I m not able to use diaper since almsot 2 weeks now. Night times are even tougher ... hope this gets better soon ...
after which i shall try out the suggestions from u and SP.

Thanks so much!
Pooja

Is it possible to train the 6m baby for passing urine like tht!!?!
This never clicked to me, i was thinking of doing this from 7-8th month. But after u said, i think i can give it a try! Good idea thanks:)

I have used Huggies diapers and never applied powder. I hv heard abt Pampers that they are better (sadly i hv got a huuuge pack of huggies so need to finish that first).
But applying powder again seems a great idea. The wetness was the culprit of all.

I shall try it out asa the rashes go away.

I feel much better :) thanks SP

I dont about the frequency of urination.. but since you seem to know how many times your baby passes urine, you can probably make him/her stand up or sit and pass urine at frequnt intervals of 20-30 min.
this saves the amount of clothing to wash and also helps to toilet train the little one.
also at night, you can dry the baby well and then apply powder before putting a diaper just before babys sleep or after the baby falls asleep. i use pampers active baby thru the night and remove it as soon as the baby wakes up in the morning. no rashes!

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.

In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
