Hi,

In the first few weeks I found that drinking rava kheer helped bring in milk. I used to drink it 4-5 times in a day, mixed with milk.

Also, sabzi made with dill is also supposed to be good to increase milk supply. Eating methi leaves and palak is also supposed to be good.

Try and eat regular meals that are not too spicy. Eat chappaties as well as rice and dal, also eat at least two vegetables at lunch and dinner. Never get hungry. Eat more often since you will feel hungry as you are breast feeding.

Hope this helps and take care,

Sonali

u can try fenugreek seeds(methi seeds) soaked in water.if u soak them at night,it will be fine to take in the morning.some americans suggest chamomile tea.u get them at safeway(in the west),in the form of tea bags.

I agree with Sai and Kavitha, you may want to allow your baby to drink your milk often. Usually your milk supply is more during day time so please do feed your baby only breast milk.

Do not drink any caffiene products as this may decrease your milk supply.
Include mathie (fenugreek) in your diet.
I have heard even garlic may help in boosting milk supply..but my baby was fussy for spicies so I had to avoid Garlic. You can try. Drink lots of fluids..Atleast 15 big glasses of water.

Hi Durga,

Breastfeeding in the first few weeks are not easy. my baby is 8 months now and i can very well understand ur position. first u mujst think u hv enough milk. try to avoid bottle and breastfeed all the time. in the first few weeks we think baby is hungry because they want to feed all the time. we end up spending 18 hrs a day breastfeeding but if u stop now and start bottle ur milk will go down. so please continue breastfeeding and avoid bottle. u can also hv fenugreek , jeera, water. confidence is the key. check out this website kellymom(.)com.
let me know how it goes and for further info if u need.

Hello Durga
I think you should not eat bread as it has maida and can cause pain in baby stomach. Eat chappattie, ghee, fruits. Drink as much water as you can. Let your baby suck more and you will have more milk production.
All the best.
Regards Kavita
