Due Date Club December 2005:anybody getting BHC

hi archie and all,
I think I have started getting BHC. The uterus tightens suddenly for few seconds not more than 5sec. I get these pain whenever I am on my feet. The are not regullar and I don't get them daily. Sometime it is once in a day or twice and that also only when I am walking or standing, and once I get the BHC I had have to pass the urine. Other day when i was walking.. suddenly I got this pain twice and I wanted to go to the loo imm but since I was in middle of the road there was no place, also due to this I was not able to take another step. Luckily there was a place to sit and relax, I controled myself a lot and called my hubby to come and pick me up from that location.

Just confirm me whether this is BHC or something else.

yes, it is braxton-hicks all right! i have been having these since the 2nd trimester. i get them now, more frequently around 3-5 times a day. initially, it was painless but now they r beginning to get really painful. try to get some rest, this will be easy if it is ur first one. in my case, i barely get any rest, as it is my 2nd one, so i am worried about premature labor now. if u get ur contractions less than 5 mins apart or if they r painful enough to make u stop activity or whatever u r doing, then go to the hospital immediately.
luv, siya

p.s:- pack ur hospital bag, i don't what it is about murphy's law, but if u pack that bag, the BHC will stop!

Hi all,
I'm also getting this tightening of stomach whenever I'm walking some times. Yes I too can't walk and I had to go that time. I'll start my walking after clearing the bladder then also if I get BH then I have to go (it might be 5min or 10min gap) and my husband makes fun of me some times. Some times I slow down my pace then it'll be ok. My doc said if I'm getting more than 4 contractions then we should go to the hospital. But only once r twice ?I'm getting and not for long time.

Hi Ammy,

Even I feel the tightening of my uterus at times. Like you said its not daily or regular but when it happens it feels like my stomach is suddenly tight and the baby has no place to move. Also, feels like the baby is pushing against my tummy. I really dont know if this is Braxton Hicks. I didnt have any pain accompanied with the tightening so I didnt relate it to contractions.

Regards,
Raji

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
