my 3 month old son has white spots on his back and neck area. the doc said it cud be a fungal infection which may go by itself. but its been over 20 days and it is yet to show any signs of going away!! Shud i be concerned. That area of his skin is not itchy or causing any discomfort to him. only the white spots are about a millimeter in diameter. wud appreciate any views/ info on this.

Shanti Hetal replied. get him checked by your dr again and fingal infection requires an anti fungal ointment ! ask for it ! maintain good hygn while touching your child,,wash your hands regularly after you:
1. clean his diaper,poop or pee.
2. whenever you wash him.
3. whenever you bathe him esp private part.
4. cut your nails regularly,,keep them clean
5. wash your hands before you touch your baby everytime ! or sanitise with purell or ne such wipes.
6. let your child wear 100% cotton and whenever you see ne sweatng or wetness around his neck, pat dry !
6. keep your child body dry and avoid ne irritant or excess application of cold creams..if needed apply it again like 2-3times a day,,but apply as little as possible..just namesake !
7. after all feedings of milk or bf,bottle feeding,,make sure to wipe your child neck and keep him dry !
8. keep his beddng 100% cotton and let him sleep on clean sheet every night !
9. avoid ne harsh detergents,,wash in cool cycles with delicate cycle,,or use warm cycle with tumble dry...avoid excess drying but make sure the clothes dry !
10. avoid ne humid atmosphere like too much of steam around your child beddng,,or around your child,,keep him in dry, clean place !
all this should avoid ne such spots in future...
