hi girls, i am a regular visitor of this site. i am due in september. really nice to read all ur discussions. i got lots of information. my friends keep asking me if i feel any movements of the baby, but still i am not. i am scared. i even asked the doctor about it. she said there is nothing much to worry. i have to go for the fifth month scanning in another 15 days.

Aug 22nd is a good day. And also Ganesh chatruthi. I was also born in Ganapati season ! My doctor has not told me anything yet but she says that I should stay home after Aug 15th.
yesterday I went to see the diabetes center and got the Gulcocite test as +. So there is a possiblity of bladder infection still being there. So I just went to lab and gave the urine sample for testing.
The antibiotics were so strong that I have already become weak.
hey, do u sweat a lot these days? I do.
Even I get tired very soon. After staying home for long time it is difficult to continue in the office :-)
Anyways, My friend kept the name of the new born baby girl as SONIKA !!
It is very different name.

niki replied. Hey Priya, take lot of care......weve moved to appartment & now i am waiting for the stuff to come fm movers. But it is relaxing to be in a house than a hotel. All this moving has got me lot of stress.....mentally & physically & i thought i mayeven need a therapist to help me. anyways just trying to manage things myself. I was shocked when my dr told me my baby will be delivered 2 weeks early i.e latest By August 20/21st....but then i took it positively that since the babe is coming before september 1 year of education will be saved. also i think 21st or 22nd is Ganesh Chaturthi.. U might be knoing the exact date/ so pls let me know. Since they r gonna induce the labour, i can have a choice of getting my baby on ganesh Chaturthi. also the same day will be our festival samvatsari/ so double the joy!! my insulin is 10 Units but again the sugar is going up so may increase to 12 next week. My drs here, seem to be having much better coordination & i feeli m treated better than NJ so what ever happens is for good. ur baby weight is quite good so dont worry. my baby weight was 3.5 pounds & has changed the position to head down.... (preparing to meet us)Also take rest & enjoy as much as u can. One of my friend suggested that watching cartoons is very relaxing.... try it even if u dont like it much. i guess vigdhya is already enjoying her baby/she shud have asked her dh to post if a boy has com or a girl!! Just curious to know. I met a friend who had gestational diabities & was in india. she was not able to controll sugar & drs never gave her insulin/Her baby was 9 pounds + at birth & she got a c section/ so we r lucky that we r in usa where care is taken much better than in india..... I am sure we may not even remember all this once we see the baby. BTw, do u go out for fun & movies? we went to see the famous underground market here & also the cococola factory & it was fun time forgeting all worries for a while. Also saw Dr.dolittle part2( its cute)take care & will write when i next come to library.

Keep urself as happy as possible & they say the baby will also be happy then. (I guess i shud also practice this....)BTw, do they monitor yr baby? How much is the weight of ur baby?? I guess ur baby is enjoying a lot in the womb right now.....any guess boy or gal? whats ur mom's guess?
priya, i was a bit shocked to hear about ur spotting so take lot of rest & care about urself. I think it shoud be the stress u r going thru by siting all day. May be reduce ur work timings to 4 hrs a day if possible or 3 days a week. Insulin is okey to take but to see a preme baby with tubes all around is very painful. Take a lot of care & Have Faith in God. when is ur mom coming? My mom got her visa & now my dh's project got extended here so we also got an appartment. So now i hope to call my mom before july end. I am also geting nervous so many times with these sugars. Though i take 8 units now, sugars keep high in mornings so dr has asked me to wake up at 3 O clock at night to measure my sugars. This baby is giving me a good practice in advance i guess. I think Vidhya got moms care at right time so she is in controll. I believe even after my mom comes things will be better. Now a days, i eat out a lot as mostly i feel tired to cook. Just praying for the best to come.

Try drinking lots of water and cranberry juice, it will flush out bacteria from the bladder and keeps you hydrared.Try not to drink colas( Which I am sure you are not since you are on controlled diet) Keep up your spirits and I am sending healthy vibes your way. Take care and keep smiling !!!

I am home from last two days. I was working in my office on Wed and when I went to bathroom in the evening I saw some spotting.I called doc and doctor asked me to goto emergency.
Then they monitored the baby and also me. THey saw some contractions getting developed.Then doctor gave me an injection to stop these early contractions. It did stop with the injection she gave me. I was again monitored for few hrs. But i didnt even know how the contractions are like. And I always thought it was a baby move. But now I understand how are thoes.
I am alright now but feeling weak. Doctor asked me to take rest till the weekend.
How are U girls? Nikki since i can not walk now I am taking 10 units of Insulin from yesterday. It is 2 times a day. Both are type N insulin and I have to take one before bed time and one before my breakfast in the morning.
I am really really worried after this thing has happend. I was not at all excited. there was nothing i did .. but it was natural. Infact same morning I visited my Gynac for regular checkup and she told me everything was normal. After all this my doctor told me that babies are unpredictable.
So gilrs do take care of urself and have a good weekend. Anupama nice to hear from u after a long time.

I have been taking 5 units but my sugars r again shooting up to 100 or 102 in fasting so this week again the dr may increase the dose. anyways, take care not much time left for the angel to come. it says 78 days left in my calender & it feels so great. One of my friend has started shopping for baby & i feel so bad at times as i may not be going shopping before the baby comes. Ive become quite superstitious & feel i should not buy anything before the arrival of littleone. They say in our custms that sssomething may go wrong with baby then & i am so insecured all the while due to this diabities. i saw a little healthy boy whos mom had not got sugar controll & he was suffering fm lungs problem.....i was scared a lot. I m loosing lot of weight & ireally feel worried for the same. 20th June is my next appointment which will be here in atlanta & i am waiting to know that my baby is doing fine..........
niki replied. hi Vidhya, ive found drs here & last evening we also went to see the hospital here. It seems like a 5 star hotel & less a hospital. Did u finish ur hospital tour & lamaze? Ya the people here seem to have more courtsey than in Nj & it is faster to get appointments with drs / also the weather is pleasant so i m liking this place very much. hope my dh continues here till the year end.....U know what? I had icecream yesterday night & still had morning sugar in controll. I enjoyed this verymuch. It is fat free & sugarfree icecream fm Edy's.....Do u know anything about it? so U have just 4 weeks to go i guess. How r ur dr's visits? did they ask u to do any tests like CST, NST, or some other to know the baby's lungs have matured enough or no???? Take care & keepin touch
niki replied. Hi Priya, Good that u r taking insulin positively. It is all for ur baby so dont feel much bad about it & enjoy what ever comes. I am told to take 5 Units of Humilin N so it works slowly overnight. I guess u must be taking R so it has fast action. actually they say pregnancy hormones r most active in morning & tend to keep the sugars high in mornings so even i am told to have fruits only in noons. Though i m so scared of fruits that ive stopped them completely. I take walnuts & some almonds instead. It is great that ur dh is helping u s much & is so supportive but just try to be on urself as much as u can & dont become too dependent. I am sure hell be by ur side always but u never know if the circumstance comes & u have to do things on urself, u should be confident enough. Ive found the drs & hospital here myself as my dh is very busy with new project. I am also not sure he wud come along for the visits....at the most he may drp me & pick me up..... it is quite frustrating initially as i am so used to him at every visits, but i think i ll have to manage! Especially for insulin, dont take his help even if he offers as it will make u more frustrated even if he is nt around for a day. Take good care I take just 1 slice bread with cheese slice & 1 cup milk for breakfast, & try to walk 7 to 10 min , which has helped me. I dont eat eggs but if it is in icecream or pudding i do take it. Wish u good luck

This process of testing started from Friday. And my sugar after breakfast and also after lunch went high. Then I called the doctor and she asked me to make the breakfast 15gms of Carb. And also asked me to visit her today.
For the weekend I made it a point to walk after dinner and lunch. The readings came to normal apart from the breakfast time. It is always betn 130-140.
My diet program :
6:30 am Breakfast 1Starch, 1Fat, 1 protine.
9:30 Milk and one fruit
12:30 3 starch( Carb),1 fat, 2 veggis, 2-3 protine
3:00pm 1 milk, 1 fruit
5:00 1 starch, 1 Protine
8:00pm dinner. 3 starch, 2- 3 protines, 1 fat, 2 veggis.
10:00pm 1 milk.
Now she has asked me to walk after brekfast also and she is going to see if that reduces the breakfast count. But she taught me how to use insulin bevcause we had time today. Need to visit her on friday.
Vidhya, I obersved that Roti has more carb than bread. When i have 3 breads for 45gms of Carb. it works ok for me.
Also if i drink lot of water after every meals that helps a lot to lower down the sugar. Walking is compulsory for me to lower the level.
My fasting is kind of border. 88-96
so she wants me to reduce that also.
Lucky U ! could control everything. Doctor was telling me as the delivery comes closer I might have to start insulin. Sometimes I feel discouraged with these doctors. Are they doing for good or just trying to keep them busy and have a customer to run their office.
No, but since it is USA, I think they are more careful. So this is what is requied i think.
Do U know what kind of treatemnt is given in india for GD?
I am a bit discouraged vidhya, I want to call my mother but she is going under her dental treatment which is also importat. So earliest she can come is mid - july. I am planning to call her that time.

It was a 3 hrs session yesterday. I was trained to use the meter and also given a chart for diet. My Dh found it very complicated. We never had seen such a big effort!!
From yesterday I have started with the tests. The night sugar was normal but fastuing came to 96 and After breakfast it was 155 !
How was it for u?
Loosing weight is a big trobble. Do you both eat Egg?
What do u take for protines?
I am asked to have 2/3 protines with lunches and dinern? Daal has carbohydrates.. So I can not have. What do u girls have usually?

Also u mentioned uve been flying too. Ya Atlanta is just 2 hrs fm here. so ill better start packing. It is better than staying all alone over here. Today i felt like eating sprouted moong & had 1/2 a cup. Any idea if sprouts have lot of carbohydrates or anything? So how was ur appointment? did u see ur baby?

vidhya replied. Niki, I bought a convertible crib (and a chest to go with it ) from Babies-r-us which can be converted to a todler bed when the baby grows. I got a portable bassinet as a gift for my shower, which i plan to keep in the living room in which the baby can sleep during the day. For Stroller & Car seat combo (Travel System), the best i could find was the Eddie Bauer by Cosco. It was really easy to fold and had big wheels and was pretty sturdy too. The cloth padding was real soft when compared to others and can be removed and machine washable. The only thing i didnt like about this was the car seat/infant seat was heavy, but most of them out there are heavy. I also considered a Glider Literide Travel system (Palisades) by Graco. Swing, I bought the 3-speed by Graco. I also got a bouncer as a gift in my shower, which i initially had planned to buy one. The one i liked was the one that grows with the baby and converts to a todler rocking chair. Have fun shopping.

My 3 hr test showed the glucose level to be abnormal. I need to go to the dietician and now do all that have been doing. Can you please explain me how to monitor, what exactly to be eaten.. I need to take appoimnet so I have not talk to anyone yet. But curious to know the details. Are the natural Sugars also problem? Like fruits?
My doctor did not tell me any details..

I have to continue this for 3 more months....O God! Vidhya, by now u should be knowing if its a boy or a gal!! If so, do let us know. Priya just hope for the best. I didnt feel weak at all after 3 hr glucose test. I was pretty okey & had some snacks after comin home. Anyways, one of my friend in chicago has a limit of sugar count upto 105 for fasting but my dr gave me limit of on 90 for fasting. I dont know what it wud be in California. Take care.

I have 2 brothers in india. And my mother stays with them. She is going to try again so let us see what happens. We see very less chances of getting the visa now but she will try.
My health is ok. I have GD ( gEstational diabetes ) and so doctors are very careful. Me and Nikki have to take insulin everyday. So as Nikki says doctors monitor the baby everyweek and will take the decision of indution if needed.
For you it is just a month from now? How are U feeling? Do u get proper sleep in the night?
I am going to take off from work from Aug 15th. So waiting for that day. Because now I become very tired ..

Hi Priya, So happy about Vidhya......She must be so excited. my U/S was good. The baby's weight was 51/2pounds & everything ws normal. Now i have NST every tuesday & U/S every friday untill the baby comes. The day they feel somthing wrong with baby, they may induce labour or else let it happen in 38th/39th week. Anyways, this time too the baby was in a position when it was not very sure if theres a boy or a gal. I just read somewhere that from 37th week, the drs will try to feel the cervix & know if there is dialation.... It seems scary.
Weekend was okey just went to a southindian temple & a mall nearby. I bought a crib this sunday & have set it up so just very excited now. I am all set for the littleone to come. What did u do? what happened about ur mom's visa?Chal take care.

NST went thr fine. And also other things are OK according to the doctor. I have every week appoinemnt now.
Doctor told me that I can travel after 6 weeks but I need to ask the pediatrics abt baby's travel. We have selected one pediatrics now. We will ask her.
Yeah it will be kind of difficult to adjust the weather and all when the baby is small. U are correct. Even I don't want to do that. Even I don't want to leave my DH here and go. My mother could not come and she is feeling bad about it. Also even my inlaws want me to go to india. Hence we are little bit confused. Frankly speaking my DH will be alone and will miss the baby and me .. So let us see what we can do. If my inlaws can come here after the delivery that will be nice.
Doctor told me that she will not let 40weeks exceed. I might deliver around 39th week. She checked with the hand and her observation is baby's head is down now.
There will be a U/s at 36th week.
Whcih week are U in now? did u have sonography?
I am preparing myself but it is going difficult because I was very much dependent on my mom coming here. My mom is going to go for visa again but right now she has some fever. So she will go in 2 weeks time. Also we had produced all the papaers we could.. so we are really not sure if this time anything will make differnce, but we shall try.

Hi Priya, Yesterday we finally bought a stroller of evenflo. it is not great but still i just keep imagining my baby in it, & then of course it will look great. Finally ive to get the Crib, Crib beddings, diaper bag, & some medications & i am all set. Did U get a diaperbag? i m in 35th week & just 4 more to go as dr told me the same that i will not go upto 40 weeks. I have my U/S tommorrow & i am waiting to see the little one. About travell i think u cant take a decision untill the baby is with U so just dont think. Let time come & things will fall in own place. As i mentioned for me travell is impossible with the little one. But if ur mom is not keeping good health & u have to go, there is no choice. Normally drs also dont refuse travell for babies but in my case i eat lot of kachra & if i go to india, it will also affect baby as i plan to breast feed. Also one friend of NJ who went there thought so many babies r there so why not my baby......she planned to stay there for 4/5 months, but just returned in 20 days as both of them were sick & also her dh was unable to manage here. I know it is easy for all in india to say us to be there but here we know how life has difficulties for anyone who has to stay all alone. Anyways, the best person to decide is u urself. we bought the Travel Kit from Graco .
I bought of green color. I know it is going to get dirty but i liked it very much. It has 2 wheels so I felt it was safe.
I have started preparing for the baby because me and my DH will be alone to take care of me and the baby. Did u buy a towel for the baby? We need the materniety pads also. Did you get thoes?
I am going to prepare some dishes for myself so that I can eat as snak after the delivery. We plan to request home cooked food from a Gujurathi aunty, for few days after the delivery.
One of my friend is going to come from east coast at the time of delivery.
I plan to go to india when my doctor allowes to travel.
We will have to wait till baby's passport comes !
I will have to buy all thoes things that my mom was going to bring.
Today we met diabetes Sepcialist and he was happy with my reports last week. He has increased the R insulin in the morning but he says now I have consistent results.
I have the non-stress test and general check up with my doctor on Wed. Let us see .. I have gained 1 pound since last week. Felt nice.
Everyone is asking me when the baby is due because my stomach has started lokking really big !!
Anyways.. I herad two baby girls were born last weekend. ( our office employees !)
Yup.. Vidhya.. Let us wait for her news !

Hey priya i forgot to mention about towels. My mom got lots of towels & washcloths which r very soft for the baby so i will be using the same. Also NST keeps a close eye on the baby's health so dont worry.....They monitor so closely & in case of trouble they have solutions so u shud be fine. Also it will give u satisfaction & relief to hear ur baby's heartbeat for 30 minutes & ull really enjoy & relax.....Take care

Hi Priya. Ya even i like & trust graco strollers but somehow due to little lesser weight i think i may end up buying evenflo discovery travell system & it costs around $150/ how much does uer stroller cost? & does it have bigger wheels ? Is is with the M Shape handle? I dont know why but i am vey confused & will just buy it this saturday. About maternity pads/ I dont know which r u talking about.... But ive bought few packs of normall kotex pads & a few ghonsons breast pads. These r of course the must...... We saw yadein last saturday & it was a stupid movie...... Yesterday got Lagaan at home & relly enjoyed it. Did u see any movies? Just make the most of whatever time is left. Once the baby is here not peacefully watching movies. Since uve got some aunty to give u food it will be very helpful to U both. Also dont think too much for what u cant change. Lots of people deliver without any help. Atleast u have full support & help from ur dh so just enjoy this month. I dont have any idea about how much time it takes for baby's passport but in Nj, one friend was able to go to india after 7 weeks. ( Though she was so healthy that she didnt even get any nausea vomitt or any sleep problem or anything in her preg & got a healthy baby within 2 hrs of normal delivery)
As untill 6 weeks any ways we normally should not go anywhere & just take rest. Also u can go for ur checkup & The baby's check up at 4 to 6 weeks & consult the drs for health for both of u. In my case i am very scared of putting my baby & myself to several changes so soon after birth so it all depends how u feel & what drs suggest for the baby. May be ur mom is to tired going to visa office so early etc so she should be fine. Anyways, take care & enjoy.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a nice day :-) I am not sure if I will also deliver the same time. Never know.
My mother has lot of fever and she is not well. She might be feeling bad because she is not able to come here. I am trying to keep my mood nice nad also trying to fight with the situation.
I am hoping that my delivery will not have much complecations. So that I can recover very fast and go to india as soon as possible.
Do u know in How many days do we get the passport for the baby?
Does it take months??

But they say u shudnt be upset or tensed else the baby gets lesser oxygen & feels uncomfortable too. So avoid it as far as possible. Take care. I am much relaxed as now my mom does all kitchen work & i just help a little. I am getting so curious about vidhya. I dont know why shes not announcing the big news. Wish u the very best for ur mom's visa. Actually my dh's company name also changed & they asked my mom if he had changed the job. Later they got the paper mentioning the change of company name. But how does it matter to them anyway if uve changed the co etc,,,, They can see a legal status rightnow on ur passport so why do they bother!!!! One of other friend's relatives r also not geting visas as they have not yet received their gc. it is so bad.... they r here for more than 5 years & now they have work authorisatation etc still they dont get the visas......Anyways, good luck to u...

Hi Priya, hope u had a great weekend. I had a nicce time too. She likes this place but there r not much people around so it seems she gets bored but slowly after the baby shell be much better i guess. I am enjoying the fresh good warm food at home & not much tension for household work. Weekend we went to downtown atlanta to see the famous cococola museum & the underground market & rest of the time searched for the stroller. BTW, which stroller did u buy? do let me know. May be coming saturday i want to finish with stroller & crib so that then i can just keep waiting & dreaing for my babe. Most of the small items my mom got & some i bought fm here so i am all sset to hold my little one now. How about U? Do u get more excited specially on the day ur week completes & new week starts? ok then more later. Thanks to ur mom. But my mother was very confident she did not mention about my pregnancy. I was getting tensed about visa but back in india eveyone was really casual. because it was not that difficult. May be I was getting this feeling before hand some how..
She is going to try again. The lady who was suppose to give the visa was really rude. She was asking why I changed jobs here.. why I went to stamp visa in canada etc.
My mother has property in india. We showed thoes papers. Now we shall show some more bank statments and property on her name..
I cannot call anyone at this point. My MIL can not come because her passport has not come yet. It will take time for her passport to come.
Yeah I have few friends here and their moms are here. So I willtake help from them.
But mom is mom. Lucky u. I kept crying hte whole night yesterday. But now I am much relaxed and positive. Something from my bottom of the heart says that my mom will be here soon. I am praying god and just trying to prepare myself for the worst.
Please let your mom relaxed!! She will take time to come back to routine here.

Here is what had to happen. They didnt tell the real reason but since I dont have father and my mother is fully dependent Consulate did not get convinced that she will go back.
Anyways, hard time for me.

Hey Priya, i taked to my mom & she said that ur father being not there is not a reason they cud have rejected & even i think that there is no reason for anyone to stay with a daughter all life. Moreover u have property in india for urself so there is no sureity that u might stay back even. Also i felt US is so liberal to various status of women & there should have been some other reason. But probably when ur mom goes the next time, ask her to keep relaxed & not to show that she is very much desperate to be in USA. Alsoi hope she has not mentioned about ur pregnancy at all. They reject in that case. she should just mention she is coming to meet u both & go around several places for sightseeing as it is good weather in us. She should also NOT mention if she has any other friends & relatives else they may get some doubt. I was just thinking that u were so tensed & felt there might be som prob & it came. So now just think positive. Can anyone else come for ur help other than ur mom? I am sure no one does as moms but still u can ask some of ur bhabhi or MIL for whatever help u can get at this time....Take a lot of care. Do U get any india MAsi (midage lady) there who can come & help U for few days? I had one aunty in New Jersey for cooking & she was very helpful. Wish u a good luck. Whats happened to Vidhya??????
