hello shruti,
i am giving tylenol cold for my daughter. she is feeling better now.
my daughter completed 6 months and she started crawling yesterday. i will try giving her upma. here is the recipe for idli.
1 cup urdal dal and 2 cups idli rawa.
soak both seperately for 2 hrs. grind urad dal into a soft paste. it should be very fluffy with bubbles. now remove water from idli rawa and mix with urad dal batter and mix it. now keep the batter in the oven.
i usually prepare the batter and keep it in the oven around 2 pm so that it will be ready for morning because of the cold weather. mix salt before doing idlis.
and add ghee before feeding.
do u want home made recipies for the baby?i think u can try everything now. prepare kichidi for her. rice with moongdal and salt . u can add veggies too. soft dosa like uttappam etc.
try giving fruits directly (not the gerber ones).
bye for now.
take care .

Hi there,

I am fine. How is ur daughter now.Hope she is fine. What did u give her for cold.
Even I'm worried abt the weather here.Mrinmayi is not used to such harsh weather.Florida is not that cold.It is like B'lore,so no probs uptil now.Now let's see what happens when we shift to NJ.
I tried giving her oatmeal cereal(beachnut)she did not like it.It has a little bitter taste. But i'll try giving it again.
I make rawa upma with oil.Fry the rawa till it is pink.Put water more than what we usually put & put some veggies like carrot shredded, tomtato's diced, cauliflower, etc.Let the upma be like a porridge.
U should make a paste of the rice after cooking, put a little ghee/butter & very little salt to taste.
Can u give me some homemade recipes.
Do u make idlis here.If yes how do u make them. They r very nutritious it seems.
So this is it for now.Talk to u later.Bye.

Shruti

hi shruti,

I am from Hyd, India, currently in New Jersey. i am in USA from last 4 years.

I have started giving solids for my daughter. Morning around 9.30 i give oatmeal, afternoon fruit, evening rice with apples/rice with mixed fruit cereal, night 1 vegetable (gerber first foods). Along with this she takes milk when ever hungry.I have to yet start her to give rice. When did u start rice to your daughter.

I have a son too. He is first grade. So its really hectic with two kids.

What about you? where are you in US?Are u working?

My daughters name is Navya. Whats your daughter's name?

Take care.Bye.

hello shruti, thanks for ur reply.even my daughter didnot like to use the bottles and formula.but as the doctor advised you to use the formula, first try giving her how much ever she drinks. after two days increase a small amount and try to give her 2 feedings now and slowly increase the number of feedings. you can try using a sipper cup. and give formula when she is very hungry.

regarding the sleep habits, after the afternoon nap, play with her and engage her all the evening. give her nice warm bath and feed her, then put her to sleep.
hope this helps. take care.
