I have a 6 months old daughter. she is having lot of dandruff. she does not have thick hair. but even then she has dandruff which are like layers int he front of her head. i tried nizoral shampoo as advised by her peadiatrician but no use. it should be really miserable for her. please help. There's one ointment, Dipsalic, Its antifungal skin cream. You may first apply oil, shampoo the hair and then apply a little on the area where you find dandruff more. Just rub lightly on it,,continue for 2-3 days shampooing daily if possible..and see the results. I have 5 months old son, he had this problem and even some yellowish kind in the eyes, i apply dipsalic and it reduces. Else Doctors say, it will reduce as he grows up. unless it is so much that it starts falling off to her clothes..so first check on that,,its more or like dandruff but the only diff is the appearance,,its flaky more thn just dandruff like pwder.

2.increase her liquid intakes,,,it might help.

3.baby sufferng from digestive prob is one of the other cause of dandruff..make sure her bowels are regular,,offer her pear juice with banana juice(diluted 1:pear:1banana with water),,and make sure to give her daily in afternoon times.

3.givng a gentle massage once the hair is dry(after a wash with lukewarm water or shampoo),,with a lukewarm pure olive oil will help. see if it does.very lil application of oil just a couple drops is needed,,,massage with your finger tips,,firm but gentle ! and in circular direction.

4.if the prob still persist,,your child might be sufferng from some mild fungal infection,,change her pillows covers or clothes frequently,almost every 2 days,,and wash her bedding and clothes in dettol(if in india),,now in US also you get these kind of solutions,check with your pharmacist and he will give you one,,and also whenever you give her head bath, once shampoo is done, rinse with lots of water and after that,,,the last rinse will be of water with dettol(2-3drops in 10-15oz of tumbler,,not more is required)...it should help.

avoid hard rubbing on scalp for babies to dry thr hair,,just massage gently with washcloth to dry off the hair,,

all this if does not help by 1week, get her scalp examined by a good dermatol0gist...
